Loretta Lizzio first caught our attention with her compelling

smile, she then captured our hearts with her vivacious personality,

and incredible artistic talent.

Through large scale murals, fine illustrations, photography and graphic design,

Loretta Lizzio creates a whimsical world that seems to transport you into an

alternate reality.

Having grown up on a quiet isolated farm in far North Queensland, Loretta, from

a young age, used her imagination to create her escapes. She has always loved

to explore nature and her affinity for insects and animals has helped to define

Loretta’s signature style.

Through her obsessive line work, she captures a sensuous desire for freedom,

adventure and love. Always striving to exceed her own creative boundaries,

Loretta has worked in tattooing, design, printmaking, installations and painting.

Although its obvious her developed style and true love is working with pen and

pencil.

On top of all of that, when she is not making bare walls beautiful, she is compiling

interviews of inspiring creative people to create her first printed magazine, and

loretta lizzio

WHAT ARTISTS INFLUENCE YOU?

I generally find what finds me at the right time

to be inspiring. New people, new experiences,

new places.

Long time favourites would have to be Audrey Kawasaki, Del

Kathryn Barton and Amy Sol.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL ARTISTIC

STYLE?

My work is usually very detailed and whimsical.

It very much reflects my subconscious. There is

always a sense of adventure or escape, and is sometimes a

little naughty.

I often stick to a particular subject and story line before i am

ready to move on.

WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?

Hmmm, I would have to say Alexa Chung. I am always

drawn to what she wears, everything from her hair

to her shoes works for me!

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR DOWN TIME?

I love to explore the outdoors! Otherwise a good movie, a cup

of tea, good food and good company.

HOW DO YOUR SURROUNDINGS AFFECT YOUR WORK?

My surroundings massively effect my work. I try to surround

myself with positive, fun, down to earth, hard working

people and I usually bloom under these circumstances. I

think everyone does!

WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Tea and scones, with lots of jam and cream...and a friend to

enjoy it with

WHAT IS YOUR DAILY ROUTINE LIKE?

Wake up, eat cereal, run, coffee with a friend, studio, music,

drawing, painting, snacking, internet break, friends,

dinner, more art, more tea, book, bed.

IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE..?

I am yet to visit New York, and am dying to get

to Italy! I still have family there.

WHAT IS YOUR INNER GEEK INTO?

Action and thriller movies!!

When it is cold and miserable out doors, Element Eden loves the idea

of getting cosy under the blanket, with the fire going and a nice cup

of tea, and setting to work on a new knitting project!

Often inspired by the adorable and whimsical knitting projects on

Tiny Owl Knits, this season we were over the moon to have the

opportunity to collaborate with our favourite nifty knitter, to bring

you cute and comfy accessories and knits to make winter a little

warmer for you!

Tiny Owl Knits was created by Stephanie Dosen, an American

singer who lives in Southern Rocky Mountains. Her ethereal and

innovative knit designs are reminiscent of her whimsical musical sound

and background. Tiny Owl Knits is renowned for her unusual and

beautiful fairytale like, woodsy, and just plain magical, knitting patterns.

Such as the adorable Little Deer beanie, and Mr. Fox scarf,

both featured in our Winter 13 collection.
