IN REPLY TO THIS WEEKSSCATHING "LETTER TO

THE EDITOR". Do we really need three

full page opinion articles? YESWhy does the newspaper

information need to take upone full page? -It's very impor-tant stuff, that's why. Oh, andAmy, Laura and I. ..well we arejust so cute. I was thinking ofstretching it to two pages ...onepage for info...one page justfor our pictures. I'd like to addpictures of our opinion colum-nists, but they are too shy."

Why wasn't there a smallarticle on the Hunter RancherChili feed BEFORE it happened?Half page ad two weeks beforeit happened, and then a flyerthe next week to alert the pub-lic (free of charge).Robin wroteabout it in his column pub-lished on September 9th. Sorryyou missed it in all 3 weeks ofpapers you purchased.

Why isn't there a newsstory every month about thecity council meetings and allthe other meetings in town?Sure, the minutes' are in there, but I want to read an actualarticle, not the minutes.-Thereis an article in the paper everytime there is a town councilmeeting. They meet TWICEa month. It is usually on thefront page ...hidden from all.

Ibet that there was a lot ofpeople who would have liked tohelp keep the Community Clubgoing, but most of us didn't

know anything about it untilit was too late. I only saw asmall article on it after every-thing was already decided.-Ican only assume you mean theChamber of Commerce. If thisis the "club" you are referringto, you should have gotten anoticefrom them; all business-es that were members of theChamber of Commerce shouldhave received a letter: Being abusiness owner yourself, anda believer of supporting yourcommunity and doing your'business locally, I am sure youwere a member.

Regardless, it was men-tioned in a town council arti-cle before it happened. It mayhave been on the front page...next to an oversized picture ofsomething.

We can think of no otherentity that dissolved this year.

Iwould have thought therewould be something in thepaper letting us know a little bitabout the new high school prin-cipal.-There was an article onthe new principal, on August6th,2010.

I don't even know who isrunning and what they are run-ning for unless I see a sign insomeone's yard. That doesn'ttell me anything about themthat should be my local news-papers job. Iguess Iwill have todecide based on prettiest sign orsomething.-I think that state-ment speaks for itself. I willsay, Kuddos to you for usingyour problem solving-skills tothe best of your ability.

I saw one volleyball pic-ture. Too bad it didn't have thecorrect caption. It wasn't a JVgame and the name of the girlwas wrong. That is a great pic-ture to put in the scrapbook.-We weregiven the name of theyoung lady in the picture froma faculty member of WrightJunior Senior High School. You

High Plains Sentinel, W~i~

can accuse me of many things, but a destroyer of scrap bookpages ...OH NO YOU DIDN'T!I have reprinted the picturewith a name given by a differ-ent faculty member on page20. We hope it is correct thistime. Apologiesfrom us, to thebeautiful young lady in thepicture.

Just to sum up, why don'twe cover high school activities?Wedon't have a sports report-er workingfor the High PlainsSentinel. All high school activ- .ities were covered by journal-ism students in years past. This year there is no journal-ism class. Wewould love somecoverage, but have nobody tocover those things. I wouldlike to thank coaches, teacherand mothers for sending whatthey have into us for print-ing. Thank you for using yourtime to help solve the problem, rather than just complainabout it. Weappreciate you!!

I have a few questions foryou:

Why do you care whocovers what stories? If a par-ent is kind enough to writeup something that should bein the paper, why does thatoffend you? What do you haveagainst Story Time? Do youreally think thatAmy can coverhigh school sports effectivelyfrom 11 to 12 on Wednesdays, instead of Story Time?

Contrary to popularbelief the three women whowork in this office' have com-mitments outside of our highpaying jobs also. We have ourown children, with their ownactivities they are involved in.We find ourselves unable tomake your children's activitiesbecause of it. We do appreci-ate constructive criticism, butnot petty knit picking.

Thank you and have a love-ly week.
