Driver sought in Sunrise hit-and-run thatkilled bicyclist
SUNRISE — —
Police are hunting for the driver who fled after hitting abicyclist Sunday night, leaving the dead man lying in theswale next to his damaged bicycle, authorities said.
The body of John Quintal, 49, of Sunrise, was foundabout 9:10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Sunset Strip, saidSgt. Rodney Hailey, of the Sunrise Police Department.
Also discovered at the scene were silver paint chips andremnants of a damaged headlight.
Sunrise traffic homicide officers are hoping to use thevehicle debris to determine the make and model of thevehicle and solve the case, Hailey said.
Quintal, wearing black sneakers, blue jeans, a long-sleeved blue shirt and a vest, was pronounced dead atthe scene.
Next to him lay his chrome BMX-type bicycle, its front tiresmashed. There was aluminum foil in the front wheelspokes.
