SANCTUARY FLOWERS

The flowers in the Chancel today are dedicated to the glory of God and placed in

gratitude for the members of the Lebanon and Oneida Mission Trips.

Sundays in August are available for anyone wishing to place memorial flowers or flowers

commemorating a celebration in the Sanctuary. Contact Kay Hayes at 416-447-9416

THANKSGIVING HARVEST COOKING TEAM NEEDED

We would like to thank Phil Irwin and his team for the many years of service that they

provided in this capacity and we are now looking for a cooking team for the second week

of October to prepare soup from the harvest display vegetables. Many hands make light

CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

Our summer Sunday program runs through until September 6th. Preschool and

Kindergarten will meet together and Grades 1 to 5 will meet together. Nursery will run for

the whole service for babies and toddlers.

We will be having our summer kid’s camps at the church from July 20 to 24. Both the

morning Bible camp “G-Force” and the afternoon art camp are full.

Summer Art Show available until August 14.

DR. MARVIN MCMICKLE Dr. Marvin McMickle earned his Doctor of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary in

Princeton, New Jersey; from where he was also awarded a Doctor of Divinity. He was also

awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters by Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio in

2010. Dr. McMickle was elected the 12th President of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity

School, Rochester, New York by the School’s Board of Trustees on May 17, 2011. He was

pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio from 1987 to 2011 and a member of the

Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. McMickle was also the

Professor of Homiletics at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio from 1996 to 2011

where he is now Professor Emeritus. He is the author of 15 books and dozens of articles. His

writings also appear in Feasting on the Word and Preaching God’s Transforming Justice; two

recent preaching commentaries. He is a member of the Martin Luther King Jr. International

Board of Preachers at Morehouse College, Atlanta Georgia. In the winter semester of 2009, he

served as Visiting Professor of Preaching at Yale University Divinity School.

City Parking at Alvin Ave. (one street east of Yonge & St. Clair) provides free parking Sunday

morning until 12:45 pm. Have your ticket stamped in the Narthex. The morning service is

webcast live and archived on our website. All morning and evening worship services are

recorded on CDs, which may be obtained from the Audio Desk in the Narthex. A limited number

of large-print Bibles and calendars are available on the Narthex information table. If you would

like one, please ask an usher. Please find our quarterly newsletter on the Centre Hall, Narthex

and South tables.

For children and youth: Nursery for newborn to 2 years old from 10:50 am and classes for

toddlers to grade 5 after the Children’s Prayer. Parents are reminded to pick up a pager before

the service or when the children head to the classes. Please note that there is no Bible study for

youth during the summer. Youth are encouraged to join the Doxa Youth Worship in Cameron

Hall today, August 9 and August 23.
