Visarte Fribourg at the Spartanburg Art Museum

Thanks to the Swiss American Society of the Piedmont, the Spartanburg Art Museum, and patrons of the arts, the exhibition

From ~Bourg to ~Burg comes to Spartanburg October 22 through December 20, 2013.

The reception, slated for Thursday, November 7th begins at 5pm.

In addition, six of the nine participating Visarte Fribourg artists will be visiting Spartanburg the week of November 3–10, providing lectures, panels, and workshops for the Upstate com-munity. Members of the Swiss Club have graciously opened up their homes to house the Swiss artists during their week’s stay.

The Swiss Club has also contributed funding for the return of the artwork to Switzerland. Support has been outstanding throughout the community.

This promises to be a fantastic opportunity to share cultures, provide international exposure, and promote the exchange of ideas. The com-munity will experience diverse and significant Swiss art of the highest caliber and also get to know our visiting artists.

A little history:What began back in May of 2010, as an idea to share the work of these Visarte Fribourg artists with the Spartanburg community now culminates into a collaborative cultural art exhibition and visiting artist exchange. A call for participation was presented to the Visarte artists back in 2011. The Swiss Club and the Spartnburg Art Museum supported this idea and the exhibition event grew from there. Please visit the Spartanburg Art Museum’s webpage for more information and be sure to click on more.http://www.spartanburgartmuseum.org/http://www.visarte-fribourg.ch/sites/main/https://wemakeit.ch/projects/from-bourg-to-burg

About Visarte and Visarte Fribourg:As the professional association of Switzerland’s visual artists, Visarte defends the latter’s interests on both the political and social levels. Visarte seeks to ensure favourable condiditons for artistic production, and provides counsel to the artists.Visarte Switzerland comprises 18 regional groups with around 3300 members. Visarte Fribourg has approximately 60 members.

Please visit: http://www.visarte-fribourg.ch/sites/main/ where you will see that our Spartanburg exhibit announcement is on their homepage. You can also view the participating artists’ work: Bertsch-inger, Kurzmeyer, Liechti, Pathey, Ragusa, Rubin, Sugnaux, Vielli, and Zappelli.

Sun Valley & Central IdahoPositioned on the southern fringe of the largest expanse of wilder-ness left in the continental United States, Sun Valley’s surroundings are unmatched. While best known for the best alpine skiing on earth, Sun Valley offers so much more. To Sun Valley’s north lie the largest tracts of virgin forests, the most un-scaled mountains, and the largest stretches of individual mountain ranges in the lower 48.

The longest, and the wildest wilderness rivers in the continen-tal United States also survive here, rendering more than 3,500 miles of floatable water. Over 400 peaks topping the 10,000 foot mark and over 10,000 pristine unspoiled alpine lakes exist here. Discover for yourself this incredibly beauti-ful and seldom seen portions of earth known as CENTRAL IDAHO.
