Eachofthe30CristoReynetworkschoolsexisttobreakthecycleofpovertythatexistsinurbansettingsandgivestudentstheopportunitytosucceedincollege,professionalcareersandgivebacktotheircommunities.CristoReySt.MartinCollegePrep(Waukegan,IL)provideslowincomestudentsfromtheWaukegan,NorthChicagoandsurroundingcommunitiesanaffordable,Catholicbasedcollegeprepeducation.TheCorporateWorkStudyProgram(CWSP)contractswithcompaniesthroughoutLakeCounty,ILandKenoshaCounty,WItofillentry-levelpositionsattheirplacesofbusiness.Manyofourstudentsworkattheirbusinesspartnerformultipleschoolyearsandarealsohiredforsummerandholidayemployment.Ourbusinesspartnersgainatalentacquisitionpipelineofhighschoolagedstudentscomprisingthetargetmarketstheyseektoemployuponcollegegraduation.Thefeesearnedare“assigned”overtotheschoolandappliedagainsttheoperatingexpensesofCristoReySt.MartinCollegePrepresultinginanaffordabletuitionforlowincomestudentsandtheirfamilies.Ourbusinesspartnerstreattheirstudentsastheywouldotheremployees.Workingwithadultsinaprofessionalenvironmenthelpsstudentsunderstandtheimportanceofactingresponsiblyandprofessionallyplusprovidesrolemodels.Eachstudenthasadirectsupervisorwhoprovidesperformancefeedbackincludingatwiceyearlycomprehensiveperformanceappraisalcoveringseveralskillcategories.TheCorporateWorkStudyProgramistheemployerofrecordforthestudentsandcarriesliabilityandworkman’scompensationinsurancepluscomplieswithallDepartmentofLaborregulations(bothfederalandstate).Thisallowsstudentstoworkonefullday(approximately71/2to8hours)eachweekplusanextradayeveryfourthweekwithoutmissinganyclasses.Studentsworkthroughouttheschoolyear(lateAugusttoJune)exceptformajorholidaysandschoolvacationssuchasChristmasbreakandSpringbreak.Bythetimetheygraduatestudentsspendthesamenumberofdaysastheydoinclassesduringonefullacademicyear.Studentworkersaretransportedtoandfromworkonadailybasis.Studentsareheldtoastrictcodeofconduct.AbsencesfromworkmustbemadeupbyastudentonadaythatthereisnoCorporateWorkStudyProgramteamsscheduled(i.e.Christmasbreak,Springbreakorschoolholidays).EachstudentreceivesagradeintheCWSPclassanditisacreditclass.Incomingstudentsreceivefourweeksoftrainingthroughoutthesummerincludingdiagnostictestingandclassroomlearning.Allfreshmengoonamulti-dayorientationwheretheyexperiencelifeonacollegecampusandexperienceteambuildingplusadditionalworkfocusedtraining.Finally,incomingstudentsworkoverfourconsecutive“training”daysbeforeschoolbeginswhichcompressestheirlearningcurve.ForfurtherdetailsabouttheCorporateWorkStudyProgram(CWSP)pleasecontact:

AdministrationServices–LakeCountySheriff’sOffice The Lake County Sheriff's Office has the constitutional and statutory responsibility to enforce federal laws, Illinois State statutes and County ordinances for unincorporated Lake County Illinois and several contract communities. Competitive drug research – students use the internet (or provided materials) to research competitor’s drugs and populate an internal Excel file with competitive analysis information. Students are adept at identify and then downloading information such as dosage, indications, pregnancy cautions, ingredients, etc. This information is used by management to position Takeda’s own product labels.

The Company Code database serves as the change management system for the labeling information related to Takeda US products. Students input safety information pertaining to Takeda USA drugs into this MS Access database. Any product updates are also recorded in this database. Also, FDA required changes are recorded in the code data sheet. The database is the primary system to track the history of label changes for Takeda US products.

Labeling File Room Re-organization – The student workers helped to completely re-structure the existing file room by moving files and re-labeling them in accordance with a new labeling protocol.

Visual documentation of library. This project is to review all the documents stored in a SharePoint database and then list those documents in a Word table within their filed sections. This gives management a more efficient view of the documents stored in that database.

organization,andallowsthemanagementteamonhandinformationtoanalyzeworkloadandmakenecessary

changestoallocationthroughpresentationofsalesorder,purchaseorder,andpurchaseorderlinecounts.The

studentisrequiredtorunandcreatepivotreportsfromtherawdata.

FreightCarrierAccuracyChecks–Thestudentproducesreportshighlightingfreightcarrieraccuracy.The

studentisrequiredtorequestthisreportfromForsytheITandcreatepivotreportsfromtherawdata.

OrdertoInvoiceProcessReporting–Variousreportsareproducedwhichconsolidateorder-to-invoice

processingdataincludingbooktoinvoiceandshiptoreceiptkeyperformanceindicators(KPIs).Thestudentis

requiredtorunreportingandcreatepivotreportsfromtherawdata.

QuarterlyBuyerDatareporting–Thestudentutilizesseveralreportstoallowaconsolidatedreporting

mechanism,combinedwithcharts,forthemanagementandstaffwithinNationalProcurement.Itisthe

summarizationofOrderProcessingReporting,FreightCarrierAccuracyandOrdertoInvoiceProcesstocreatea

singleholisticview.Thisenhancedviewallowsasinglereportformanagementtoutilizeformoreindepth

workloadanalysisandKPIreporting,aswellasprovidingNPstafftheabilitytohaveopticsintotheir

FreightEstimationSystemResearch–thestudentaccessedhistoricalshippingordersandenteredactualdata(i.e.itemnum,quantityandweight)aswellasestimateddata(pertheestimatingsystem)forseveralkeydatapointsintoExcelfiles.Thesedatapointswereanalyzed(actualvs.estimated)fordifferencesandresultedinadjustmentstoAHR’sfreightestimationalgorithmnssotheymorecloselyreflectactualfreightcharges.
