What are the options? A pre-Master’s (you are enrolled as a pre-Master’s

The different options to study Communication Science at the UvA

Hbo diploma obtained?

Then you start the short-track Bachelor’s / Verkorte Bachelor The number of exemptions and, thus, the duration of the programme depend on the relevancy of the courses you have completed during your previous education.

Important: The tuition fee

The Dutch government doesn’t fund second

bachelor programmes. Many HBO students who are participating in the

short-track Bachelor’s CS pay the institutional tuition fee of 7600 euro per year.

Carefully consider beforehand which tuition fees apply to your situation. DUO offers more detailed information about this matter.

HBO programme not yet completed?

Then you start the hbo-doorstroomminor / HBO follow-on minor.

The minor is a programme of 30 ECTS and is similar to the first semester of the (short-track) Bachelor’s Communication Science.

No relevant (HBO) programme?

(Possibly) participate in the HBO-doorstroomminor / HBO follow-on minor and (possible) exemptions in the remaining Bachelor’s programme.

The HBO-doorstroomminor / HBO follow-on minor is similar to the first semester of the regular bachelor’s programme. You will request for individual exemptions for the remaining Bachelor’s programme (maximum of 46 ECTS: electives and internship).
