FY2012/2013

Our Leos adopted Ping Nan students as

host children during their stay in Miri and

the students had also performed a variety

of performances.

It was the Riam Road Secondary School’s annual fund

raising concert. Many of our Leos participated and

helped in making the concert a smashing success.

Our Leos also helped

in the school’s annual

fund raising food fair.

We had our own Leo

stall where we sold

chicken rice, chicken

satay, balloons, pork

meat loaf, bacon and

ham. A lot of hard

work and time has

been spent by our Leos

to bring our Leo stall

to a great success.

The Old Newspaper(ONP) Collection is

our Leo club’s most successful fundraising

project. Our last ONP for the year 2012

was held on the 29th of September 2012.

We were chosen by our school to represent RRSS in a Charity Fair

organized by E-mart Reality(Miri) Sdn. Bhd. The main objective is to

reduce the increasing amount of trash in Miri’s dump sites.

Beforehand, we have already sorted out the clothes, magazines and

books to be sold during the Charity Fair in E-mart.

We were the organizing committee for RRSS’s Chinese Singing

Competition. We prepared for the competition weeks in advance to

make sure the program flowed smoothly. The objective of the project

was to bring out our students’ talents in the field of singing.

Students from St. Angela’s

School from Brunei came to our

school in the morning for a study

trip. Our Leos welcomed them

with greetings and handshakes.

They visited our school to learn

more about our school’s brass

band, Mathematics teachings

and RIT.

Our Leos participated in the Joint Induction and

Installation of Leo Club of Riam Road Secondary School,

Leo Club of Riam Institute of Technology, Leo Club of

SMK Marudi, Leo Club of SMK Chung Hua Miri and Leo

Club of SMK Lutong.

In conjunction of the approaching Merdeka Cheer project, 8 of our

Leos and one of our faculty advisors, Mdm Ling Kiew Liong went

to Merdeka Mall to shop for t-shirts for underprivileged children

from Pujut 5 slum area .

Bringing along orphans to Borneo Tropical Rainforest to educate them

about the importance of preserving our nature.

Towards a Greener Tomorrow: RRSS Canteen Waste Recycling Programme. Our

Leos with the school prefects, canteen operator and food stall workers have been

embarking on a waste recycling campaign in the school canteen since March 8.

Some of our Leos lent a helping hand to clean up a Home for

the Aged and also had a fellowship with the senior citizens

100% of our Leo club members attended the 2012 Leo Camp held in Kolej Tun

Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang Miri! We did very well because out of 111 Leo camp

participants, our Leos made up of 50% of the participants. Another good news is

that RRSS reigned champion and 1st runner up for the telematch. Empty plastic

bottles were also collected to be sent to Taiwan to be made into recyclable goods.

In conjunction with International Literacy Day (8th September), our

Leo Club donated RM800.00 worth of books and other items to our

school library.

RIT Culinary Arts students made it in to the Malaysia Book of

Records with the biggest 1 Malaysia Cake. Our Leos gave both

moral and financial support by buying a piece of the cake.

enjoyed grand finale of 1200

Kong Ming Lanterns released into

the air at midnight.

As part of the 55th Merdeka celebration, our Leo club organizeda

Merdeka Cheer project at KFC Bintang Megamall, Miri with 33

underpriviledged children from the Pujut slum area.
