What a meeting last week! I was so surprised when I looked at the time and we still had meeting time up our sleeve. I was so sure we would go over time with so much happening.

The big secret of the night was the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow Award to Ross Collins. This presentation was going to take place at Changeover, but Ross and Yvonne are going to be away. So some sneaky stuff happened. Thank you Gavin for assisting me and ensuring Yvonne was at the meeting. It was lovely to see Colleen as well, yes, she was in on the subterfuge! Ross had no idea the award was going to be for him. The look on his face was priceless. Congratulations again Ross. Well deserved.

We presented a cheque to Radio Lollipop Kalgoorlie. Hayley Littley and Paul Kenny represented the organisation and gave us an overview of the activities carried out by them with patients in children's ward. We also presented a cheque to Pam O'Donnell who together with Georgia Dettoni and Lyn Fitzgerald represented the Goldfields Women's Refuge. Both organisations were very appreciative of the support.

Our Guest Speaker was our very own Danny Vincent. Danny gave us a snapshot of his life as a Police Officer. Sadly it was Danny's last meeting with us as he goes on leave on 3 July then heads off to Perth to take up a posting in Judicial Services. You will be missed Danny.

Margaret gave us a bottle of wine to raffle. Those who are coming along to the social night on Thursday night next week will get an opportunity to have a taste. Yes, I won the raffle! The Joker Jackpot is slowly creeping up to $500. Who knows maybe someone will draw the Joker at Changeover! If not the cards will keep dwindling at future meetings until we have a winner.

feel we know Lauren very well by the time she arrives. The students fly out of Texas on Saturday and spend a day or so in Perth before flying out to see us.

We have had three expressions of interest from students who would like to go to Texas in December/January. Kelsey and I interviewed the three students Thursday afternoon. All will be great representatives for our Club, Kalgoorlie-Boulder and District 9465.

A reminder there is no meeting Monday night as we will be joining Boulder and Hannans for a Joint meeting so the Texas students can meet other Rotarians and do their presentation.

Thursday night is a Club Social night at our home. 6pm start. BYO drinks and a pot luck dish. Dessert has been organised.

One item I keep forgetting to mention at meetings and in the column is the conversation we had with Mark from Salvation Army when he visited the Club as our Guest Speaker a few weeks ago. He talked about how the local Salvation Army

From President Esther (cont) ... make up toiletry packs for those who seek their assistance. We talked about collecting toiletries when we are travelling. Mark indicated the size of the shampoos, etc. are ideal. So we encourage anyone who is travelling to collect up all the toiletries in your room (you do pay for them) and bring them in to our meetings. Once we have a decent amount we'll either invite Mark to a meeting to present them or arrange to go to them to hand over.

As for me I have the final Bulletin for Changeover to complete and then I'll hand over the responsibility of producing a column each week to Gloria.

Enjoy the rest of your week as you Light Up Rotary
