Remember:

Independent Clause: a part of a sentence that can stand on its own because it has a subject and predicate

Example: Even though she’s 88 years old

Review: Complex Sentences

Reminder:

Complex Sentence: a sentence that combines a dependent clause and an independent clause

Example: Even though she’s 88 years old, my grandma loves roller coasters.

Remember: Conjunctions are words that combine sentences or clauses together.

Subordinating conjunction: combines an independent clause and a dependent clause

Examples: after, although, as, because, before, even if, even though, if, since, unless, until
