1927 - Birth

Cesar Chavez was born Cesario Estrada Chavez. He was born on March 31, 1927. His parent’s names are Librado Chavez and Juana Estrada Chavez.

Chavez begins his work as a farmer. Chavez will continue to work as a farmer for the rest of his life.

1952 - Joins Community Service Organization

Chavez becomes an organizer for the Mexican American community and dedicates a lot of his time to this cause.

1962 - Founds NFWAChavez founds the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) in California, with labor leader Dolores Huerta. The organization is dedicated to the rights of migrant workers, including a minimum wage and insurance.

1966 - UFW is formedThe NFWA and AWOC merge, forming the United Farm Workers (UFW). Chavez will work for this foundation for the rest of his life.
