Cancer registration is standardised based on:

ICD-O

International classification of diseases for oncology

Enables comparisons and research

The Icelandic Cancer Registry has together with

Landspítalinn University Hospital started the process

of implementing clinical registration comparable to the

Swedish INCA system

To date, mainly histopathological variables have been

registered in Iceland

Krabbameinsskrá Krabbameinsfélags Íslands

Clinical variables for colon- and rectal cancer in

Iceland were compared with SCRCR data from the

Uppsala-Örebro Region in Sweden for the calendar

For countries implementing clinical quality registries, it

is important to have the possibility to compare and

bench-mark clinical data with established registers like

those in Sweden

Small differences in registration forms can make large

differences in the complication rates

A nordic or international standards/variable definitions

would facilitate comparison between different quality

registers

For Iceland the Nordic collaboration is highly important
