Message from the Board Chair
Dear Friends,
It is my honor to welcome you to the 2019 Annual Donors’ Breakfast. I want to thank everyone who contributed to making this annual event such a success, from our ad sponsors, program sponsors, and each person who thought enough of our mission and vision to attend our event.
The theme of our Donors’ Breakfast this year is, “We Are Part of the Story,” speaks not just to the mission and vision of the C. Waldo Scott Center for H.O.P.E. but to every person here today and the countless young people who have received scholarships over the last 20 years.
As we approach 30 years of operation, we have much to celebrate! The vibrancy of the school community, the strength of our leadership team, the passion and dedication of our staff – all of it is palpable. You cannot walk within the Scott Center without feeling the passion for the youth and families of the East End community; the seriousness about providing HOPE to families, while developing the WHOLE CHILD. I am proud to represent and be part of an organization that is so committed, so transparent, and has so much integrity about fulfilling its mission to educate, inspire, and empower our children.
“We Are Part of the Story” is a fitting message because, as a community, as a family, we support each other and share in each other’s successes and failures. As a village, we are responsible for the success and well being of our youth. As the elders and leaders of the community, it is our responsibility to pass the baton of HOPE and set the expectation for greater progress! No matter how you look at it, “We Are (all) Part of the Story” that shines a light on our past, our present, and our future.
We have much work ahead of us to realize and sustain our vision of what our youth and our community can be. As much as we have accomplished, we have so much more to do. Like a garden that needs constant tending, our dreams will only grow into reality with active support and hard work. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to be a part of it.
Sincerely,
Angela FutrellBoard Chair
