Qualities of Color

Hue - color name. A synonym for color (i.e., blue)

Saturation - synonym: intensity. How bright or dull the pigment is.

Temperature - perceived as warm or cool

Value - how light or dark a color is

Saturation - How bright or dull the pigment is.

Primary Colors

• "Primary" = first• Can be mixed together to make all

other colors of the color wheel• "Pure" pigments. Cannot be made by

mixing two colors together

Secondary Colors

• Created by mixing two primary colors together

Tertiary (Intermediate) ColorsCreated by mixing a primary

color with a secondary color
