BYOT was the right path

• Positions us in a constantly evolving technology landscape

• Offer customer choices

• Move towards electronic/paperless program management

• Able to know device is active now and tomorrow

• Streamline operations via aggregator

• Allow future adoption of DR (and more) via single platform

13

Starting with EE (for now)

BYOT EE process

15

1. APS markets program

2. Customers with new devices directed to vendor’s online enrollment

3. Customer completes online form

4. Customer application confirmed/rejected and notification sent

5. Rebate check sent for successful enrollment

So how are we doing?

21

Launched in 45 days

2,500+ devices enrolled

(Almost half way to goal)

A few lessons so far• Engage legal early around customer data and

agreement

• Be aware of variability across thermostat vendors

• Off the shelf vs. customized

• Need a third-party aggregator to herd the cats

• Multi-vendor implementation can introduce some challenges

• Customer experience is harder to control/manage22

How do we get to IDSM?

• In the hands of regulators now to approve filing

• All BYOT devices enrolled capable of DR

• Same platform and enrollment tools can support dual EE + DR

• Planning to offer combo EE + DR incentive

• Not stopping at DR (teaser for Tom Hines)
