The Bulb Collective consists of photographers active in urban (and rural) photography with an expressive

shift to include highly aesthetic and poetic images in their assignments.

They share the same vision but not the same perspective which gives the necessary "polyphony" in their

extremely ambitious endeavour to cover all the aspects of the Balkan neorealism.

Their visual signatures aspire to create iconic images and to be the best in metamorphosing and

interpreting all aspects of life in this highly contradictory and fascinating part of the world.

By publishing this rst book we would like to share with you our delight and passion for photography.

Bucharest April 2015

Michail Moscholios

discovered photography about 12 years ago when I got back to school to study Interior Design (my rst profession is

Itranslator) and a two year photography course was a part of it. Since then it became my main and favorite creative media. My photos are a quest for beauty: in people and places, in big and in small things, in form and color, in light and

shadow. If we look around with attention and care we'll notice that beauty is everywhere and I totally relate to F.Dostoevsky saying that "Beauty Will Save the World". I was born in Moscow and at present live in Cyprus.

like to observe and study the reality around us, to interpret it in different ways. I want to be understood by different people

Ior to make them see the reality in different ways. I try to make a story told by photos and to create a new reality I like to feel or touch.

hotography is a way for me to discover myself and helps me to develop my creativity and sense of humor. I use the

Pcamera like an instrument that helps me to connect whith people. I take photos using means of aesthetic photography and I try to listen very much my intuition. I try to really express what I feel in my photos.

y father handed me my rst camera (a rangender) when I was 16 but funnily enough I have never shot street

Mphotography with that camera. After a long silence, I woke up in 2004 with a couple of digital cameras (one pocket and one DSLR). The pocket one made me discover the beauty of candid photography and my good friend Nikos

Papadimitriou conrmed me that it was original work. He was a great fan of Henri Cartier-Bresson and he transmitted me the virus. Street photography took me hostage because it is the photography of freedom, of emancipation, of synergy among human beings and at the same time the total absence of them. It is an attitude against the ordinary, an instinctive response to the unpredictable, a juxtaposition of the unrelated.

y name is Laszlo-Tibor Olah, I was born 1974, I live in Romania in Baia Mare city. I have a degree in Automotive

MEngineering and work in this domain. I’m an amateur photographer. I love to catch real life people on location at work, at play or on the streets. I don’t go anywhere without my camera. I love documenting the moments of our life. I use analogue

(35mm) and digital camera too. I participated in many exhibition and contests in Romania and abroad , sometimes with notable results. Just like inuences I can mention here three of my photography idols: Brassai (Gyula Halasz), Robert Doisneau, Andre Kertesz.

enjoy my passion towards photography turned into my everyday comrade. As a consequence, I never leave home without

Imy camera. I am always prepared for new challenges. I am an observer. When I go out on the street I am always attracted by details regarding events which occur in my proximity. My curiosity leads me every time to this mission: nding

events and recording them through my consciousness. In no more then a few words I can sum up my street experience by claiming that the joy of being on the street goes beyond words.

o me, photography is one of the most selsh entertainments an artist can use to express himself, for himself, so that he

Tcould show it afterwards to the World as the bravest masterpiece a man can create. Photography is one of the God's creations, seen through the eyes of another God's creation to be watched by another and another in a never-ending,

peculiar symphony of images.

i, I’m Sorin and I got here by traveling. Not traveling

Hthe world, but walking on my own life experience behind the trigger of a photo camera. I never really

knew and never really wished to get here, but now that I arrived I could not be more grateful for it. It began as a wandering – being a child, the fascination of my parents Polaroid helped me discover the path to best memories by photographing my colleagues at school. As I grew up, the wandering started to appear as a destination – a great birthday present from my best friends was the lead to it: a digital camera. Taking shoots was back in my life, more than ever, capturing every corner,

with the desire to keep every memory alive.Afterwards came the rst interchangeable lens cam, and

since then I wanted to know more and to have more on the sensor. I realized I needed a “backpack” to make this travel of becoming a pro, so I began doing my best. It’s hard to count the percentage of the last few years spent trying to handle every technical aspect of photography, from what’s inside the lens of a camera, to calibrating and adjusting, from how to use light, to how to take dark shoots, and so on. I took a photography course, read pretty much the whole Internet about “how to do it” and practiced frantically. Beyond passion, capturing the beauty of life is science.

f we think about a photo as at a language, then, the photo must express both, the space and the time; the time, not as a

Ipurely physical parameter, but as a budding of being, through emotion, of the one who looks.

always ponder what's denable, easier to read and try to turn it almost completely upside down by aesthetic means, to nuance

Iit. People, spaces and their connections, their movements, attitudes and facial expressions are attached to inuential emotions, and it is by these sentiments that they form their own cultural standards. As a photographer and mild interloper into

their worlds, I'm trying to impart and reciprocate certain atmospheres, without borders or high walls, without symbols and concepts. Just their days under the sun.

torytelling through photography is an introspective game - instead of trying to nd the best suited words, you have to

Swonder into a maze of dozens of images and pick up the proper elements to recreate a feeling or a state of mind. Talking about myself, about my imaginary world through photographs, is like silently making a puzzle, carefully

choosing tiny bits of the fantasy realm that is sealed in the prosaic around us.

even years ago I decided that I want to become a photographer. I realised the way I see the world around me through my

Sviewnder had changed after a long period of watching thousands of photos. It was love at rst sight and since then my passion hasn't diminished, on the contrary it has grown and become an important part of my life. I have long been feeling

attracted to expression photography, even when I didn’t know its name. This was one of the reasons for which, back in 2012, I made the decision to enroll in Francisc Mraz Poetic Photography School . I am also a person who loves collecting expression photos – my collection can be found on Facebook (Photo Collection page). More, I have recently experienced the pleasure of joining the BULB family as a founding member.

was born in '83 in Piatra Neamt, Romania. About 12 years ago I discovered the universe of images and found the love in

Iexpressing myself with my camera. As a street photographer I started about 3 years ago when I moved to Bucharest, the largest city in Romania. Here I found myself and my passion through the black and whiteness of the streets. And a

beautiful love story began. So, as I always say: "Camera is my toy and streets are my playground. Come and see me playing."

or me, photography is a joy of knowledge and self-knowledge. Through it, with the help of my camera, I create a new

Finterpretation of the outside world. I think that the frame construction is essential in this process. The picture must surprise, intrigue, we should not pe able to fully understand it. The cumulation of atmospheres from a picture is meant to make us

wish to look inside our souls.

am in love with photography. It wasn’t love at rst sight! It

Iwas a love that grew, the more I was nding myself in the photos I was taking! It is a love that has grown and is still

growing along with each new discovery. Starting with the touristic photos taken in my holidays, to the rst school of photography that gave me a framework, to the second one Scoala de Poetica fotograca “Francisc Mraz” that helped me see photography as the esthetic expression of diverse

atmospheres, profound beauty and sensibility, I got eventually to discover myself and the people around me. What is my photography about? People. Portraits of inner worlds captured on anonymous people faces, worlds they were not aware they had inside .The excitement of connecting with people through photography, the power to change the real to surreal and the creation of emotions are the reasons I am today a photographer. This love is here to stay!

am a poet. Rather a poet than a photographer. Rather a part of the poetry of more than a thousand words spoken

Ithrough a photo. I am part of my photography, by which I mean that I do not create it, on the contrary - the images are the ones that put together, piece by piece, Me.
