July20,2016HowdyBowieBearFamily!MynameisBrianShillingburg,andIamthrilledtobeyourPrincipalatJamesBowieMiddleSchool!Iwantedtotakeamomenttointroducemyselfandsharemycommitmenttoyouforthisschoolyear.IgraduatedwithaB.S.inEducationattheUniversityofMaryHardinBaylorinBelton,Texas.Ihavebeenmarriedtomybeautifulbride,Amy,foralmost14years,andour9-year-oldsonisourprideandjoy.Forthelast15yearsIhavehadtheopportunitytoworkinanABunit,ayouthRTC,serveasaworship/youthpastor,teachgradesKinderandfourth,andserveasanelementaryinstructionalcoach.Igraduatedin2010withanM.Ed.inSchoolAdministrationatSamHoustonStateandhavespentthelastfouryearsinSpringBranchISDasanassistantprincipalatLandrumMiddleSchool.Myfirstandforemostdesireistocreateathrivingcampusculturewhereeverychildsucceeds.Throughpowerfulworkingrelationshipswewillbringoutthebestinourteachersandcontinuetodevelopanatmospherewherewelovetocomeandserve.Collectively,Bowiewillpursueinnovation,encouragecreativity,andequipteacherswiththetoolstheyneedtosucceedthroughqualityfeedback.IwillalsoencouragetransparencywithourparentcommunitysowecanhavethoughtfulconversationsaboutmakingBowieathrivingschoolcommunitythatconstantlyseeksnewwaystochallengeourstudents.Wehavetheopportunitytoimpactourstudentsatsuchacrucialmomentintheirlives.Forme,themiddleschoolyearswereadefiningpointinmylifewhereIchosethepathofeducation.Icannotwaittogivebackandhelpourstudentsfindtheirwaytoasuccessfulfuture.Let’sGoBowieBears!BrianShillingburgPrincipal-JamesBowieMiddleSchool
