Body Parts IdiomsBy the end of the lesson you
will have learnt 10 new idioms which include names of body
parts.
Please take notes of all the idioms, write 10 sentences with
the idioms omitted and bring them with you to the lesson.

Meaning - - - to say something by accident that embarrasses or upsets someone
Example – You shouldn’t have told your dad that your mum crashed his car. You really put your foot in it.

Meaning - - - to be very expensive
Example – This car is really nice to drive but it cost an arm and a leg.
To get something off one’s chest
Meaning --- to tell someone your problems
Example – Thanks for listening to me complain about my work. I just needed to get it off my chest.
To see eye to eye
Meaning --- If two people see eye to eye, they agree with each other
Example - My brother and I see eye to eye about politics.
To keep an eye on something/somebody
Meaning --- to take care of, to watch in order to protect
Example – I need to answer the phone. Please keep an eye on the omelette or it will burn.
To play something by ear
Meaning --- to do something without a plan
Example – When the conflict started, I wasn’t sure what to do and had to play it by ear.
To be head over heels
Meaning --- completely in love
Example – My sister is head over heels for her boyfriend. She doesn’t notice his strange behaviour.
To let one’s hair down
Meaning --- to relax, to rest
Example – It’s time we let our hair down. We have done too much work. Let’s go to the club.
To make one’s blood boil
Meaning --- to make very angry
Example – Rudeness makes my blood boil. I can’t stop myself.
