Barack means one blessed by god in Swahili.

Early years

Born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii to a African father and a from Kansas mother. Mom and Dad separated for a long time then finally divorced . Raised by a single mother and his grandparents.

Barack Obama inspired many people but Barack had an inspiration too.His inspiration was his dad.

Education

He went to a small college in Los Angeles for two years.

In 1983 he transferred to Columbia University and earned his bachelors degree

After working as a community organizer In 1991, Barack went to Harvard Law School. He graduated first in his class and was the first African American President of the Harvard Review.

On June 2, 2007 the University of Massachusetts Boston awarded Obama an honorary degree for advancing and protecting the interests of the less fortunate.
