Pathway to Articulation

Review Pre-Requisite Requirements

• 55 credits in either healthcare or IT-specific coursework as approved by the program

• Science – 10 credits (one lab course and one life science)

• English Composition I – 5 credits

• College level math – 5 credits – Statistics

• Technical Writing/Research Writing – 5 credits

• Social Science – 5 credits (either social science or humanities must be a communication course)

• Humanities – 5 credits (either social science or humanities must be a communication course)

Current Student Population

• Target student audience– Already have associate of applied science

(AAS) in healthcare or IT-related fields– Does this limit advancement options?

• BAS considered a 2+ 2 degree– Allows those with AAS to build on prior

education and applied training

Current Student Population

• BC is not limited to accepting only AAS graduates

• Students who have met the 90 credits of pre-requisite coursework are eligible to apply

Transfer Degree Option

• Nearly all community colleges have this option

• Designed to ease the transition to four-year colleges and universities

• Creation of specialized transfer degree option can create pathway for students– Satisfies the pre-requisites for the Healthcare

IT BAS program

• Clark College– Major Related Programs (MRP) degrees – Modified to prepare students for direct

transfer to a given major

Getting Started

• Refer to pre-requisites for entry into the BAS program at Bellevue College

• Identify applicable transferable courses

• Submit this information to Dr. Charney for review– May be asked to provide course outlines, objectives and

syllabi

• Meet with BAS program faculty and staff to finalize course equivalency guide (can be done via web conferencing)
