ur government assumed the agre-
ement focused on the tourism acti-
vity consolidation. To Argentinas
natural and cultural attraction we
added the hallmark of the countrys
products and services quality.
Many wine routs linked to a first level
hotel industry; sports fishing; polo and
golf with the worlds most important
tournaments and eight Ski centers for
the winter season attracts demanding
passengers looking for a different ex-
perience.
Moreover, investments made by the
national government in infrastructure
and services made possible to Argen-
tina to be in the best position for inco-
ming corporate passengers.
This work has clearly produced results
and now we have a wide-ranging hotel
infrastructure, a more and more well
known gastronomy, a modern commu-
nication system and high-performance
for our visitors.
Argentina is a country that invites and
a tourist destination that attracts. Ac-
cordingly, our countrys growth as first
class tourist destination can be seen in
a large number of visitors that choose
our landscapes and made possible to
triple currency contribution to tourism
industry in the last ten years.
Between 2004 and 2011there was a
growth in foreign passenger arrivals
to Argentina. In 2011 a historical high
was reached due to 5.7 millions inco-
Argentina: a country that invites,a tourist destination that attracts
ming tourists from all over the world
and we have similar expectation for
2012.
Along with optimization, we did make
international promoting activities that
contributed to position our country as
the most visited destination in South
America.
Certainly, cooperation of public and
private sectors with the common objec-
tive to promote our countrys advanta-
ges in the World and the implementa-
tion of ARGENTINA TRADEMARK
have been fundamental to achieve a
strong identity that powers our quality
in an increasingly competitive and glo-
balized world.

also a decisive factor for our country
to be a potential scenario for organi-
zing exhibitions and conferences and
an outstanding destination for corpo-
rate groups.
Business Tourism grew 200% in the
last five years. Due to policies we have
introduced, Argentina ranked to 18th
position worldwide in the countrys
event organizers list. On top, our coun-
try was selected to be venue in 2015 for
the International Congress and Con-
vention Association (ICCA) congress.
These achievements show that we ha-
ve only gone through part of the path.
We will continue our efforts because
we know that tourism in Argentina is a
unique and unrepeatable experience.

Since the Business Tourism Mar-

in 2008 by the National Institu-
te for Tourism Promotion (INPRO-

Tourism of Argentina and the Ar-
gentine Association of Organizers
and Suppliers of Exhibitions and
Congresses (AOCA), international
congresses organized yearly in Ar-
gentina grew 200 %, compared 2011
against 2007. Thus, our country got
in 2011 186 events, ranking 18th in
the world, according to the Interna-

year in a row was the most selected
city in America to host these events,
beating destinations like Sao Paolo,
New York or Mexico City.
Thousands of passengers arrive
every year to Argentina in order to
attend at congresses, conferences,
fairs, exhibitions, MICE trips and
Sports Events, among others. Our
country offers great variety of cli-
mates and landscapes that can be
enjoyed throughout the year and at
the same time first-level infrastruc-
ture.
Important national and Internatio-
nal hotel chains, convention centers
with state-of-the-art technologies,
every destination in Argentina faci-
litates venues to a large number of
professionals in beautiful cities or
in front of impressive landscapes.
At the same time, as an important
cultural and business centre, Ar-
gentina offers more than 800 wee-
kly international direct flights con-
necting our country to more than 50
cities on the 5 continents.
The strong infrastructure inves-
tments and the public-private coo-
peration did consolidate Argenti-
na as an international destination
for large events like the Dakar ra-
lly in Argentina-Chile-Peru that for
the fifth time was made in 2013 in
South America, and the for Septem-
ber 2013 planned 125th meeting of
the International Olympic Commit-
tee (IOC), where the venue for the
2020 Olympic Games and next IOC
president will be decided.
Our commitment for 2013 is to
continue to position our country
through the more than 40 event des-
tinations in Argentinas 6 tourism
regions, by a strong presence in the
most important tourism events in
the world, implementing those ac-
tions from the Marketing program
specific for this segment and which
endeavours to meet the markets
new needs.

ollowing this year tourism po-
sitioned as an indispensable su-
pport for economic and social
development, not only in Argentina,
but also worldwide.
According to a recent report of Uni-
ted Nations World Tourism Organi-
zation (UNWTO), worldwide it has
just been reached 1 billion tourists. If
we multiply expenses and activities
that we make every time we travel,
the influence that this activity has
over all aspects of our lives is unders-
tandable.
Tremendous advances made by
joining together the business sector
are reflected in new organizations
and association of different tourism
activities, nationwide and through
cooperation of public-private sector.
This joint growth drived emplo-
yment generation and all provin-
ces economy, accounting for 7% of
Argentinas GDP.
The new holiday Schedule, adapted
to the international demand model,
has been a successful traction for do-
mestic tourism throughout the year.
The impact was hugely positive, be-
cause it helps to diversify destina-
tions and products. Tourism industry
understood that passengers need at-
tractive alternatives all over the year,
improving the best offer out of sea-
Tourism as a factor foreconomic and social development
son. Many people decided to postpo-
ne trips to popular visited places at a
later time
Considering statistics of the Minis-
try of Tourism of Argentina, arrivals
to destinations in Argentina during
long weekends in 2012 would reach
11,1 million, and we are very opti-
mistic for 2013.
In particular, the Argentine Tourism
chamber made an amendment to the
Staff Regulations, a past presidents
desire, and finally CAT is an institu-
tion opened to all components and
tourism industry.
It was a hard working year, dedi-
cated to found new Chambers in
Argentinas provinces, and the objec-
tive is that every province has its own
tourism chamber, what can be achie-
ved shortly. On top, we have achie-
ved to lay foundation stone for the
Southamerican Tourism Confedera-

regional policies for the continental
tourism development.

hose of us who have the chance to be in contact with guests and di-ning customers from different parts
of the world know that tourists look forward to meeting the personality and
idiosyncrasy of the countries they visit.
They want to meet unique landscapes,
to enjoy the various weathers, to practi-ce active tourism and to meet museums and art. But on every step they make on
a foreign country they want to experien-ce emotions, to look through the most
relevant aspects of the countrys culture
ways of life, languages, rites, hospitali-ty, spirit of a great host, taste and colors
in their regional products as typical dis-hes and wines.
With all this in mind, we know that Ar-gentina with its great product and res-
taurant/hotel business can occupy a bet-ter place within the great worldwide
catalogue. This is the most important
challenge for the business industry, an in-dustry that works hand-in-hand with the
public sector. Every tourist visiting our
country buys our products and uses our
services making it a way of exportation,
thus the tourism industry becomes an es-sential activity for the creation of jobs a
significant aspect for countries like ours
that must encourage sustainable growth throughout the entire territory.
Tourism generates income evenly for
the host communities.
That is why FEHGRA, an organiza-tion founded almost 70 years ago that
groups 50,000 hotel and restaurant es-tablishments all over the country in 63
Argentina,hospitality and taste
subsidiaries, developed the Proyecto
Integral de Desarrollo Hotelero Gastro-nmico Regional (Integral Project for
the regional development in hotels and
restaurants) towards the internationa-lization of our hotels and business in-dustry that works in a professional way.
Hotels are developing high-end new
concepts in gastronomy every day to
offer new services to their guests. Our fo-cus is to work with them on a long-term project and to find a method to help and
promote regional economies, products
and regional food so as to generate an in-tegral movement of productive feedback
together with hotels and restaurants as the main characters in the market.
Regional Production, Fine Dining and
Hotel Business in Argentina need to
be positioned, that is why we develo-ped several strategies within this frame.
One of these is the creation of Restau-rante Argentina, FEHGRAs initiati-ve with the support of the Argentinas
Ministry of Tourism, which has partici-pated in a proactive way in the various
international fairs. Hotel and Restau-rant businesses in Argentina constitu-te 420,000 employments and help GDP
with a participation of a 2,7%. It is al-so part of the Tourism Industry repre-senting a 7,25% of the total GDP and a
7,21% of employment in Argentina. As
an institution representing the tourism
industry, our goal is to develop strate-gies to go beyond any circumstantial
event towards the growth of the indus-try and the country.

INTRODUCTION
rom the Tropic to the Antarctic and from the Andes Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean, the 24 Argentine pro-vinces cover a surface of 3,761,274 square kilometers.
The country borders Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil on the North; Uruguay, Ro de la Plata, and the Atlantic Ocean in the on the East; Chile and the Atlantic Ocean on the South; and also Chile on the West.An extensive maritime coast lies in the Atlantic Ocean and offers the most visited places such as the most popu-lar coastal city of the country: Mar del Plata. Moving to the South youll see the Pennsula de Valds a marine fauna heaven and on the tip of the continent the southernmost city appears: Ushuaia. On the Andes Mountains, the Aconcagua the highest mountain of the Continent stands out. It is 6959 meters

any skier and an oasis with production of wines, delicate
fruits, olives and sheep. The Pampa plains shelter the richest meat and grain farms that have always epitomized our country; today they be-long to a network of tourism estancias to be in contact with
nature and its inhabitants and to enjoy the experience of rural tourism. One of the candidates to become the Wonder of Nature is the largest wetland of the country, the Iguaz Falls in the

ritage such as the Jesuit Farming Es-tates. The warm North keeps the old history of our continent submerging its cultu-ral roots in the Incas era and keeping them alive on their gastronomy, rites and celebrations. And finally the most cosmopolitan ci-ty: Buenos Aires. It is the main entran-ce door to the country and it is the city where you will find places resembling
Madrid, Paris or Rome, where the-
re will always be someone willing to share a coffee and have a long chat on
how to fix the worlds many issues.
Congresses and ConventionsNot only will you find a complete and
modern infrastructure when choosing Argentina as the place to plan your business events, but you will also find
a variety of alternative activities to make the stay of the attendees more
enjoyable.
The success of an event for business or professional reasons, for an incenti-ve travel, or to attend a convention or a
fair highly depends on the host desti-nation chosen; the diversity of activities, the quality of the hotels, the food and the entertainment options are a key fac-tor. Argentina offers all these options.
So we shouldnt be surprised because
of the fact that Argentina is in position number 19 within the worldwide ran-king for business events host countries;

this is due to the implementation of the Marketing Plan for Business Tourism and all the work being done as a Coun-try Team jointly by INPROTUR and its strategic ally: AOCA (Argentine Asso-ciation of Congresses and Expositions Organizers and Providers).55% of the congresses held in Argen-tina take place in Buenos Aires due to its large hotel accommodation capaci-ty, which has positioned the capital ci-ty in the first place among American
countries with respect to the amount of international congresses held. Then we have Mar del Plata, Crdoba, Rosario, Mendoza, and a lot of other places within Buenos Aires city, Salta, Santa Fe, Tucumn, Paran, San Juan, San Luis, La Plata, Neuqun, Ushuaia, Comodoro Rivadavia and Posadas.
BenefitsInternational flights from Europe and
other American countries arrive to
the airports of Buenos Aires, Salta, Mendoza and Crdoba. What is mo-re, flights departing from Buenos Ai-res and other local cities can take their passengers directly to the tourist desti-nation; highways and routes also con-nect destinations making traveling by car a journey of only a few hours bet-ween the convention center and other tourist attractions, which is an added
value when deciding the host destina-tion for your future events.

cosmopolitan and busy city, active all day long and with lovely neighborhoods that evidence a great part of the young 430-years-old city, Buenos Aires is the
political, economic, and cultural capital of Argentina.Buenos Aires is the main entrance to the country and more than five million tourists explore its streets looking for the
citys most widely known icons: the argentine meat and
the tango.
Hundreds of good restaurants, grills (where youll eat grilled cow, poultry and pork meat), Tango Houses to
combine Buenos Aires music and typical food meet all these expectations.
The city offers a wide variety of accommodation options
due to the intensive growth in the hotel industry with the best international hotel chains and also with the emer-gence of boutique hotels (many of them as theme hotels)
meeting all visitors expectations.
Argentinas Republic capital city provides an intensive cultural and sports life, with a varied
gastronomic offer and all kinds of entertainment that add value to high-quality services for
congresses, exhibitions and fairs successful development.
Moreover, the many ways of connecting Buenos Aires with the rest of the country make the capital city a very
flexible option when merging work and a pleasure tra
vel. All these benefits are a good reason to choose Buenos
Aires as the host city for a business meeting, a congress or a convention. The events premises offer spaces for big
meetings or fairs, but many hotels 4 and 5 stars hotels
have meeting rooms for various uses and offer an ideal
location in the central points of the capital city to host business meetings, products presentations, professional seminars and social meetings. State-of-the-art technology is always present; the only thing that changes is the num-ber of rooms, luxury, or services.
Moreover, Buenos Aires offers services to make the orga-nization of events easier by means of a reciprocity agree-ment subscribed with some countries to agree that those registered to attend congresses and to hire stands in expo-

ue to its nature, Argentina is in the map of active
tourism, but it doesnt take to be a great athlete to be
able to enjoy the many ways to discover its nature. It
is just a matter of letting the wind take you on a paragli-
der, or taking a walk to some unexplored area of the Pa-
tagonia surrounded by Glaciers and millenary woods.
If you want some adventure, you can go rafting downs-
tream from one of the Mountain Rivers or you can ex-
plore the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
Snow is an attraction for winter sports lovers and the
summer season invites golfers, fishermen or Polo pla-
yers. Tasting a good wine or a delicious asado criollo
(argentine barbecue) in some estancia could be another
gratifying surprise.
After finishing long working days, meetings, congresses or exhibitions attendees visiting
Argentina can travel many days in direct contact with nature surrounded by wonderful
landscapes.
GolfGolf Players will find in Argentina a good chance to
push their limits and this can be done facing the sea, in
the mountains, or in the endless Pampa. More than 400
fields (private and public) offer a wide variety of alter-
natives to choose.
In San Martin de los Andes, Jack Nicklaus designed the
Chapelco Golf & Resort field over the mountain. If you
go south, in Bariloche you will find the Llao Llao Hotel
& Resort golf courses facing Nahuel Huapi Lake. And
the Arelauquen Golf & Country Club shows its fairways
over Gutirrez Lake.
Crdoba possibly has more golf courses than any other
province in the country. The visitor will be able to cho-

ose among several options such
as Potrerillo de Larreta, La Cum-
bre Golf Club, or the Crdoba Golf
Club in Villa Allende all these al-
ternatives with a view of the moun-
tain ranges in the horizon.
If you choose the sea, the Mar del
Plata Golf Club offers two excellent
golf courses and the Acantilados
Golf Club offers one. Pinamar and
Caril cities are also a good option.
PoloConsidered as the best Polo players
in the world, the Argentine pla-
yers dispute the first place in the
most prestigious international po-
lo championship held in December
every year: the Argentine Open Po-
lo Championship, where teams wi-
th a handicap of 40 are challenged
sometimes.
Today there are a lot of Polo Schools
In Buenos Aires, within the city and
in the center of Bosques de Paler-
mo (Palermo woods) you will find
the Campo de Golf de la Ciudad de
Buenos Aires; also, in less than an
hour you can get to the Buenos Ai-
res Golf Club in Bella Vista, to the
two golf courses of the Jockey Club
San Isidro or to the San Eliseo Golf

simply to improve your skills- in
some estancias not very far away
from Buenos Aires like Pilar, Ezei-
za, Coronel Surez, Crdoba, Open
Door, San Miguel del Monte, Vi-
cente Casares and Los Polvorines.
Learning programs can last for a
weekend, a week, or a month with
practice sessions. Players and com-
panions stay in the same farm and,
in order to make a pleasant stay for
everyone, activities are organized
for them.
Sports FishingSports fishing can be practiced in
Argentina in plain rivers, Mountain
Rivers, lakes and lagoons, dams,
and in boats or from the sea coast.
Fly-fishing is the most used method
for trouts fishing in Patagonia. Spe-
cies fished in National Parks must
be put back in the water. Fishing
season is in southern summer.
The provinces of Buenos Aires, San-
ta F, Entre Ros and Corrientes ha-
ve a wide variety of freshwater fish
such as the Sand Smelt (fall and
winter) and the goldfish -Dorado-
and the surub (large freshwater ca-
tfish), specially in Esquina and Pa-
so de la Patria in Corrientes (spring

and summer). In the big rivers of
Salta, Jujuy, Catamarca, Santiago
del Estero, Tucumn and La Rioja
you can fish surubes, goldfish, ca-
tfish, bogue fish, etc.
In the Atlantic Coast you can fish
the most popular species such as
the blonde and the black sea bass,
the sand smelt and the saurel fish.
If you fish on a boat you get: lemon
fish, jewfish, sea salmon, blue fish,
the Corcovado River in Chubut, the
Alumin River in Neuqun with the
most fast-flowing rivers in Patago-
nia. In the North you will find Ju-
ramento River in Salta and Jchal
River in San Juan where there is a
scheduled river descent during full-
moon nights.
Winter SportsThe Andes Mountains is where all
codling, rbalo (a variety of sea
bass) and shark. The most varied
and good-sized fish are found du-
ring summer sea fishing is allowed
throughout the whole year.
RaftingMountain Rivers are the proper sce-
nario for rafting. The most popular
rivers for this are the Manso River
in Bariloche, the Mendoza River,

winter sports are practiced. The city
of Bariloche, located between magic
natural landscapes, has the earliest
and largest ski center in Argentina:
the Cerro Catedral (Ro Negro).
Among the most important ski cen-
ters we can also mention Valle de las
Leas (Mendoza), the Chapelco hills
in San Martn de Los Andes (Neu-
qun), or the southernmost center in
the world: the Cerro Castor in Us-
huaia (Tierra del Fuego) with the
longest ski season in the country, or
La Hoya in Chubut with a unique
landscape filled with lakes, casca-
des and woods.
Gourmet ArgentinaArgentine meat quality has reached
other countries and many visitors
come to our country to taste a good
asado in any part of the country.
Speaking of exquisite taste, we ha-
ve the Cordero Patagnico (Pata-
gonian Lamb): its lean meat has a
delicate flavour and is the diva of
the argentine food. It is easy to find
this special dish in the patagonic re-
gion.
No matter what type of meat you
choose but you will always need a
good wine for a perfect touch. And
the best way to find this noble drink

features is going along the Rutas
del Vino (Wine Routes).
The wine production areas go para-
llel to the Andes Mountains and co-
ver a total length of more than 1490
miles going south from Ro Negro,
passing by Neuqun, Mendoza, San
Juan, La Rioja, Catamarca and Salta.
Some of the many activities offered
are: visits to wineries, wine tasting,
public wine harvest, lodging in
boutique hotels inside the wineries
and wine therapy.
Rural TourismArgentina has always been known
as a rural country.
Hundreds of farming premises
welcome tourists to make them feel
real gauchos for a while sharing
their life and habits.
A large amount of farms are distribu-

ted along the many provinces where
you will find different options such
as 19th century castles, big mansions
filled with history, modern huts wi-
th state-of-the-art accessories, among
others. All these places are waiting for
you to make you experience the life
of a rural worker, to ride a horse, to
watch livestock management or sheep
shearing and to make cook your own
bread and cheese for breakfast.
