What is ARCIS?

• Web-based application for the management of records transactions between the owning agency and NARA Records Centers.

• Modernizes the entire records management process.

Interdependent ARCIS Components

• User Administration: Set up ARCIS users and assign them capabilities.

• Access Control: Restrict what records each user can access.

• Records Transfers: Submit SF 135s online and track the status of records transfers.

• Reference Requests: Submit OF 11s online and track the status of reference requests.

Two sides of ARCIS

NARA employee portal

• Used by FRC staff to process transactions.

• All transactions are now being handled via ARCIS (records transfers, reference requests, refiles, dispositions, etc.)

Customer portal

• Used by customers to submit transactions to the FRC.

• Until recently, only the Reference Requests module was available.

Benefits of ARCIS

• ARCIS expedites data entry and submission

• ARCIS provides precise bar-code tracking of records and transactions

• ARCIS keeps track of exactly where records are shelved (so you don’t have to!)

• ARCIS keeps track of the status of every transaction
