Music Department News
March was a busy month for our music department! There were many different kinds of events that
happened.
Here’s a recap:
On Friday, March 9th, the Jazz Band and Show Choir toured the four Keene elementary schools.
Students from both groups performed for the entire student body at each school and did a wonderful job.
Monday, March 19th, was an incredible evening of music for all of our Band students as well as
the KMS Chorus and Strings students. Thank you to all of our students for sharing your talents
with us, and making our seventh annual Music In Our Schools Month concert a great success!
On Friday, March 16th, the strings ensembles performed an assembly for their classmates and
teachers! Excellent performance!
Also on Friday, March 16th, three KMS Band students traveled to Salem High School to participate
in the 2018 New Hampshire Band Directors Association Middle Level Honors Band Festival. The students
were Isabella Georges, Julia Hicks, and Rebecca Holland. It was an exciting day of music for students and
directors alike!
On Saturday, March 24th, 118 seventh grade students and eleven KMS faculty members traveled to
New York City to see School of Rock on Broadway! Students also took a guided tour of the city. It was a
full day, but very memorable!
Upcoming:
On Thursday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m., the Showchoir and Jazz Band will perform for their families
and friends and on Friday, April 13, they will perform an assembly for the KMS community.

begin April 2nd from 3:15-4:30 on the fields behind the middle school. If the weather is still bad we will
host try-outs inside the KMS gymnasium. There are 14 games scheduled for the baseball and softball sea-
son.
The track season will kick off with practices starting April 2nd. Practices will run from
3:15-4:30 p.m. on the Keene Middle School Track. There are 7 track meets scheduled
for this season. The home track meets will be held at the Keene Middle School track.

Intramurals
Floor Hockey, our most popular intramural program, started at the end of March. Each floor hock-
ey team will play five or six regular season games and then have games for the playoffs, which every team
will make. All games are officiated and team records are kept for playoff seeding. The eighth graders will
play first, next the seventh graders, and finally the sixth graders will have their season. Signups will be
held in physical education classes prior to each season starting. Any student who wishes to participate
needs to sign up and will be placed on a team.

The final pages of this year's KMS yearbook
are nearly complete!
The yearbook club has been busy throughout
the fall and winter attending events for picture-
taking opportunities, identifying students in group
pictures for clubs, organizations, and sports, and
making important design decisions for this year's
book. We are looking forward to completing the re-

Evolution Dance Team News
Parent Group
The annual KMS Staff Appreciation Lunch
will be held on Thursday, May 17th, (early release
day). The organizing committee is seeking donations
of gift cards, gift certificates, gift basket items, or mon-
etary donations to help with the raffle and catering
costs. KMS has about 115 staff, and this year our goal
is to be able to give each staff person some small gift of
thanks for all they do for our children. Therefore, one
or more small gift cards or certificates ($5-$15) would
be most helpful. Does your company do matching dona-
tions or in-kind gifts of merchandise? If so, please ask
them if they can contribute to this worthy cause
too! Checks can be made out to: Keene Middle School
Parent Group.
After spring break, we will send out another
call for food donations and volunteers to help work at
the event. Note for planning and scheduling: May 17th
is an early release day!
Look for more information on the Staff Appreci-
ation Lunch and other KMS Parent Group activities on
our Facebook page: Keene Middle School Parent
Group.
Thank you in advance for your help with mak-
ing this event a success and a wonderful day for our
deserving KMS teachers and staff! Many thanks to the
families that supported the dance in February. The do-
nations and chaperone help were much appreciated.
The spring book fair is around the corner. Details &
volunteer needs will be announced in the near future.
Next meeting: Thursday, April 5th, 6-7 PM in
the library. Childcare is available. Hope to see you
there. Please join our Facebook group – “Keene Middle
School Parent Group.” This is our primary communi-
cation tool.
The Evolution Dance Team will travel to Conval
High School on April 15th for the SMS Annual Dance
Competition starting at 9:00 a.m. Come support the
Team and enjoy a morning of amazing dance!!! The
