Lebanese Baccalaureate Scholarships Around 15 full-tuition scholarships to the top 5 of the four tracks of the Lebanese Baccalaureate in conjunction with the National Council for Scientific Research.
• New Merit initiative (50%Tuition +30%Loan, Top 5 entering students per district in Lebanon)
A new scholarship that will start in Fall 2018-19 as announced: Consistent with its strong commitment for educating the brightest young students in the country and the region, AUB leadership is pleased to announce the launching of a merit scholarship-advance plan to provide overall coverage of 80% of tuition fees for up to 130 students from the 26 districts of Lebanon. Academically qualified students holding the Lebanese Baccalaureate or equivalent, who are accepted to AUB and ranked in the top 5 (in accordance with AUB criteria of admissions) in each district, will be awarded a 50% scholarship and 30% facilitated educational loan for studies beginning in academic year 2018-19.
• Work Study Programs Work Study Students can apply for work study to the office of the Dean of Student Affairs. Students can work a maximum 20 hours per week and they are paid by the hour.

Hariri School of Nursing currently offers: 60% (Financial Aid + HSON Scholarship) to financial aid applicants who show commitment to nursing and who have a good academic standing. In addition, students might be eligible to:

Admission to minors:
1- Candidates may not apply for minors before completing 60 credits beginning with their
freshman class and 30 credits beginning with their sophomore year; in brief, they should
be in junior standing.
2- Candidates following an arts major and decided to select a minor in Arts should complete
a minimum of 6 courses to be determined by the Dean of the Faculty.
3- Candidates following an arts major and decided to select a minor in a Science major
should complete prerequisite courses selected by the Dean of the Faculty before taking
the 6 courses required for a minor in their field of interest and vice versa.

Double Majors and requirements:
Students who wish to major in a second academic discipline in the same academic faculty
(school) must complete all of the following requirements:
1. Complete all the courses required for the first degree (first major).
2. Complete all core requirements of the new major (not less than 30 credit hours).
3. Make sure that courses which satisfy requirements of the first major are not counted twice.
4. Complete a senior project in the new discipline
Once the above conditions are satisfied, the student will receive the degree in the first major
(one degree will be awarded), and a certification testifying to the completion of all requirements
of the second major. The transcript of record shall also show that the student has satisfied all
requirements for the second major.
Students who wish to major in a second academic discipline in an academic faculty (school)
different from the one of their original major must complete the following requirements:
1. Complete all core and major requirements of the new major.
2. Complete a senior project in the new discipline.
Once the above conditions are satisfied, the student will receive a degree for each major he/she
has completed (two degrees will be awarded). The transcript of record will show that two
degrees were awarded.
AUST students may work for two BA or two BS degrees from the same faculty provided they
complete all core and major requirements for both majors, but ONLY ONE DIPLOMA and a
certification testifying to the completion of all requirements for the second major will be
awarded.

English Entrance Exam (EEE):
The AUST English Entrance Exam (EEE) is required from all applicants, on the basis of
which students will be placed in the appropriate English Program.
Math Placement Tests (MPT):
The Math Placement Test is required from all applicants according to the following criteria:
- The Math I Placement Test is required from all candidates following the Arts and Business
majors, and candidates following the Information Communications Technology (ICT) major.
- Math II Placement Test is required from all candidates following the Sciences majors.
French Entrance Exam:
The AUST French Entrance Exam (FEE) is required from all applicants to the French Section,
on the basis of which students will be placed in the appropriate French Program.

Early Admission
Students with a minimum cumulative average of 80% in their last two years of secondary
education may apply to AUST prior to receiving the results of the Official Lebanese Government
Secondary Certificate (Previously Lebanese Baccalaureate part II), or its equivalent, under a
special early admission plan. Admission of such students will be contingent upon presenting
proof of having received the Official Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate or its
equivalent as recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education. Students with such
conditional acceptance will not be allowed to register until all admission requirements are met.
Regular Admission
Applications must be received no later than May 31st for admission to the Summer Session;
September 15th for admission to the Fall Semester; and, before the end of January for
admission to the Spring Semester.

Change of Major
Students who wish to transfer from one major to another may do so only after completing
at least one semester in their current major or in the major to which they have been
admitted. Students who change major will be allowed to drop the lowest two grades
obtained in their previous major. Admission to a new major must be approved by the
chairperson of the academic unit to which the student has applied and by the Registrar; if
approved, the change becomes effective as of the beginning of the following semester.

Yes, each year we give “prepaid applications” to a number of top students. Prepaid
applications are LAU applications free of charge.

No extra fees imposed for extra documents nor for the financial aid application.
The documents required for admissions are:

A copy of the student’s ID card
A certified copy of the Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent once

IV- WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF EARLY ADMISSIONS?
It is always advisable to submit your application before the regular admissions
deadline, even if your application is incomplete, because:
You can secure your place earlier in the major of your choice
You can benefit from regular admission advice and orientation
You get your acceptance early in march 2018, so you have plenty of time to
make a decision
You can appeal to the decision of your application in case it got rejected
V- WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF REGULAR AND LATE
ADMISSIONS?
It is not preferred to apply during the late admissions. Even though you may be able to secure
a place at LAU, you might not be able to fully benefit from LAU’s financial aid and
scholarships. Additionally, it might be too late to sit again for the sat exam.

Upon submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email from LAU
with your LAU username, password and unique ID number once your file is
processed.
VII- HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY APPLICATION IS BEING PROCESSED?
You can check the status of your application by logging in your LAU portal using
your LAU username and password.
VIII- HOW DO I KNOW THAT I GOT ACCEPTED/REJECTED?
Upon issuing a decision regarding your application, LAU will send you an sms. You can
also check the status of your application by logging in your LAU portal.
IX- IF I DO NOT GET ACCEPTED THE FIRST TIME, DO I GET ANOTHER
CHANCE? IF YES, PLEASE EXPLAIN
Yes. If your application was rejected, an admission officer will contact you to
explain the different steps you can take in order to higher your chance of
admission. For example, if your application got rejected because of low Grade 11
grades, you will be asked to provide us with an updated transcript of grade 12
grades, once you do, your file will be re-sent to the admissions committee for
review.

LAU offers $30 million US dollars in terms of financial aid and scholarships every year.
If you wish to apply for financial aid, you need to submit your regular application first,
then use the LAU username and password to start your online application for financial
aid.
There are various scholarships that LAU can offer you:
1- Merit scholarships (100% of tuition). Print it out from the website, fill-it-out and submit it
along with your admission application. It is granted to a specific number of top students in
Lebanon.
2- Bacc. Scholarships (50% of tuition). No application required; automatically given to high
school students who score:
-17/20 in GS and LS (Lebanese Bacc.)
-16.5/20 in ES (Lebanese Bacc.)

-18/20 in the French Bacc.
3- SAT scholarships (50% of tuition). No application required; automatically given to high

acceptance. It is granted based on a combination of the student’s SAT scores and high
school grades.
5- Honor scholarships for current LAU students (10-50% of tuition)
6- Athletic scholarships (10-15% of tuition fees). Print the application out from the website,
fill-it-out, and submit it along with your admission application.
7- CNRS scholarships (100% of tuition fees + $500 monthly stipend) given to the top 5
students from each section in the Lebanese baccalaureate.
8- University scholarship program for public high school students in partnership with USAID
9- Tomorrow’s leaders scholarship program in partnership with MEPI
XI- HOW CAN I MAINTAIN MY FINANCIAL AID OR SCHOLARSHIP

In order to maintain your financial aid, you have to maintain a minimum of a
2.0 GPA
Each scholarship has its own conditions to maintain.

Freshman Requirements
Non-Lebanese students or students who have followed a High School program for at least three years may
apply to the Freshman Class. They must hold a secondary school certificate (Grade 12) recognized by the
Lebanese Ministry of Education. Applicants to the Freshman Class are required to take the Scholastic
Aptitude Test SAT I prior to registration as required by the Lebanese Ministry of Education for the
equivalence of the Lebanese Baccalaureate Part II. SAT II tests, which correspond to the Freshman
Sciences or Arts streams, should be taken during the Freshman year. SAT I includes Evidence-Based
Reading/Writing and Math. SAT II (Arts) includes Math 1C plus two SAT II Subjects Tests. SAT II
(Sciences) includes Math 2C plus two of the following science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

The required minimum score for the combined SAT I and SAT II is 2600 for Freshman Arts and 2750 for
Freshman Sciences (old scores) whereas 2150 for Freshman Arts and 2300 for Freshman Sciences (new
scores).
Moreover, applicants to the Freshman Class must obtain a written authorization from the Equivalence
Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education. This document will allow students to pursue their
higher education on the basis of a foreign program.
Sophomore And First Year Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the Sophomore or First Year Class, applicants must hold the Lebanese Baccalaureate
Part II or its equivalent, as determined by the Lebanese Ministry of Education. The strand of the Lebanese
Baccalaureate Part II (General Sciences, Literature and Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics, Life
Sciences) must correspond to the requirements of the desired program of study of the respective Faculties
at NDU. Applicants must accumulate a certain composite score (CS) required by these Faculties to be
admitted in their respective majors. This score is calculated by allocating 55% weight to the last 2 years’
school averages and 45% to NDU Math Aptitude Test or Math for SAT I.
V- ENTRANCE EXAMS AND PASSING GRADES FOR DIFFERENT MAJORS.
All applicants must satisfy a minimum level of English proficiency to be admitted. Notre Dame
University recognizes one of the following instruments to measure this level:
• EET (English Entrance Test), administered by NDU,
OR
• TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language),
OR
• Writing Section of Old SAT I / Reading & Writing Section of Redesigned SAT I
OR
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System),
A student must pass the EET with a minimum score of 650 to be admitted without remedial English
courses, and a minimum score of 350 to be admitted with Intensive English course (ENL 002). Below are
the required remedial English courses along with their corresponding EET score ranges.
A student must pass the TOEFL with a minimum score of 243 (computer-based), [590-593] (paper based)
or [96-97] (internet-based, or iBT), to be admitted without remedial English courses, and a minimum
score of 180 (computer-based), [507-510] (paper-based) or 64 (internet-based), to be admitted with

IV - UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS (FRESHMEN- SOPHOMORE
LEBANESE BACCALAUREATE II- SOPHOMORE FRENCH BACCALAUREATE) Freshman Applicants to Freshman Class should:
Hold a secondary school certificate based on 12 years of schooling, starting with Grade One. This certificate must be awarded by government or private schools and recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and by the University.
Obtain “permission” from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education allowing them to pursue their higher education on the basis of a foreign program.
Take, prior to their admission, SAT. Take, either prior to their admission or during their Freshman year, SAT Subject Tests as follows:
- Students who choose the sciences track should take: Mathematics II (obligatory) plus two tests chosen from Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
- Students who choose the arts track should take: Mathematics I (obligatory) plus any two tests.
To be eligible for promotion to Sophomore Class the applicant should obtain a minimum cumulative total score (SAT + SAT Subject Tests) of:
Sophomore Students completing 12 years of schooling with one of these credentials: Lebanese Baccalaureate, French Baccalaureate, Syrian Baccalaureate, Jordanian Tawjihi, German Abitur, Official Government Secondary School leaving Certificate, full IB Diploma or IGCSE/GCE (2 A levels or 4 AS levels and 5 O levels) can apply directly to the Sophomore level at UOB. V- ENTRANCE EXAMS AND PASSING GRADES FOR DIFFERENT MAJORS.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) SAT is a requirement for all undergraduate applicants. Exempted from SAT are:
Transfer students from other universities (who completed successfuly one year or has 20 transferable credits)
Applicants to majors in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or ALBA Applicants to majors taught in French

Students are urged to contact the nearest testing center for more details on SAT. When registering for SAT, applicants to the University of Balamand should enter the UOB code 2960, and ask the Educational Testing Service to send the scores directly to the Office of Admissions & Registration
Language Proficiency Requirements English Language Requirement Prior to registration at the University, students admitted to UOB must demonstrate a level of English proficiency consistent with the demands of a program carried on almost exclusively in the English language. This may be done in any one of the following ways:
French Language Requirement (French majors or majors taught in French): Candidates must demonstrate a level of French language proficiency consistent with the requirements of their program of study. To ascertain this proficiency, the candidate must pass the French Entrance Exam (Test de Positionnement). The Undergraduate and graduate students who hold a DELF/DALF with a degree level B2 or C1 will be admitted as FREN 201. Applicants who hold a DELF/DALF with a degree level B1 will be admitted as FREN102, they must complete successfully FREN102 within the first semester of enrollment at the University. Decisions will be sent out by January 20, 2018. Admission is conditional upon receiving the student’s leaving certificate or high school diploma, on the basis of which admission was sought. Students cannot register until all conditions are met. Applicants who are not granted early admission will be placed in the pool with regular admission applicants.

une attention individuelle et en lui accordant un support financier adapté à sa situation.
Certains étudiants planifient le financement de leurs études avant leur ad-mission. Ils peuvent
déposer une demande d’aide financière afin de rece-voir une estimation en fonction de la
situation particulière de leur famille.

PERCENTAGE THROUGHOUT MY MAJOR?
La nature et le montant des aides financières sont déterminés par le service social selon le cas
de chaque personne.
Bourses s’excellence :
Les bourses attribuées aux bacheliers couvrent la totalité des frais d’inscription aux crédits
exigés dans le premier programme d'études (qui est de trois ans) et ceci à partir de l’année
universitaire 2018-2019 sans effet rétroactif.
La demande doit être présentée dans les 30 jours qui suivent la publication des résultats du
baccalauréat libanais ou français.
Le bénéficiaire d’une bourse, demi-bourse ou quart de bourse d’excellence doit être classé, à la
fin de l’année universitaire, parmi les 15% premiers de son année d’études pour pouvoir
bénéficier du renouvellement de la bourse pour l’année suivante.
Bourses de mérite :
Elles sont attribuées chaque année par le Conseil de l'institution à certains de ses étudiants
particulièrement brillants, selon ses propres critères, dans la limite fixée par le Conseil de
l'université.
