ANCIENT SHERWOOD ROUTE

Ancient Sherwood route

Approximately 20 miles long, the route isdesigned to take a day when incorporatedwith planned stop offs for refreshments,activities and enjoying the attractions.There are three road crossing points en routeand a further two within Clumber Park.

The Ancient Sherwood route starts atSherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre. It takesyou through Sherwood Forest National NatureReserve into woodland and on to the NationalTrust owned Clumber Park returning on acircular route.

Taking you through a National Nature Reserveand protected Sites of Specific Scientific Interest(SSSIs), this route is perfect for a gentle ride inone of the oldest areas of forest in England.

Due to the popularity of the area and need forpreservation in Sherwood and Clumber,you’re advised to cycle responsibly givingconsideration to other bridleway users andthe environment.

The terrain is mainly flat and pathways aregenerally well maintained. There are occasionalinclines which require some physical effort.
