After the storm
AFTER THE STORMMany houses were destroyed
AFTER THE STORMStores, cars, bots were destroyed
AFTER THE STORMPeople watched as their possessions
were taken by the storm
But a few houses held up
They were strong through the storm
WHY?Why some houses were taken by the
strength of the water?
While others stood up?
How was this house built to held up through such a storm?
The Wise & the Foolish Builders
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." (Mat.7:24-28)
The Wise built on the rock
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
The Foolish Built on Sand
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
THE HOUSE IS THE HUMAN LIFE
THE WISE person builds her life on the rock,
THE FOOLISH person builds her life on the sand.
HOW TO BUILD YOUR LIFE
If you are WISE you will build your life on the rock,
If you are FOOLISH you will build your life on the sand.
Psalm 127
Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in
vain.
THE WISE• Builds his life on the rock
• He/she knows that storms of life will come
• If his/ her life is on the rock he/she will go through them and still stand up.
STORMS COME AGAISNT • ILLNESS• UNEMPLOYMENT• DEATH OF A LOVED ONE• DIVORCE• BETRAYAL• ACCIDENTS• ECONOMICAL RECESSION• NATURAL DISASTERS• ADDICTION• ETC.
THE WISE “The rain came down, the streams rose,
and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
THE ROCK
“it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
WHAT IS THE ROCK?
THE ROCK “Therefore everyone who hears
these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
• It is for everyone:– Who can hear– Who hears the words of Christ– Who practices them in their lives
THE FOOLISH• Builds his life on the sand
• He/she knows that storms of life will come
• But he/she is vulnerable to them and their lives will be at risk when the storms come
SAND: LIFE WITHOUT GOOD FOUNDATION
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
• Everyone who can hear• Who hears the words of Christ• Who does not pay attention to them and do not
put them into practice
THE WORD OF GOD IS AVAILABLE
• The Words of Christ are available in the Scriptures
• His Ways and Principles for life are clear and simple
• They are not hidden somewhere but they have been revealed to us
We have to relate to the word in the right way so it will become a ROCK
1. Hear the Word
2. Pay attention to it
3. Take it into the heart
4. Put it into practice
5. Follow God’s principles for life
ROCK OR SAND TO YOU?
• If you are hearing the Word but are not really listening to it
• If you forget the Words after you leave here
• If you do no obey the Word
• If you despise them
• YOU WILL BRING SAND HOME
ROCK OR SAND TO YOU?
• But If you are hearing the Word and are really listening to it
• If you do not forget the Words after you leave here
• If you are ready to obey the Word
• If you put it into practice
• YOU WILL BRING ROCK HOME
Practice it & be Blessed
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. James 1:22-25)
