No one knows what it feels like to be in love better than you. And no one knows what an island wedding is like until they’ve done it themselves. Once you’ve had your wedding here in the U.S. Virgin Islands, we invite you to share your story at usvitourism.vi.

Adam and I met on the beach in Cape Cod, so we always knew we

wanted to get married on a beach somewhere. Neither of us had

been to the Caribbean, so we got really excited about an island

wedding. We picked St. John because it was exactly the kind of

beautiful, idyllic place we had imagined. And, since it’s a U.S.

territory, it

made things a little easier on everyone traveling

there. In the end, we had 42 of our closest friends and family

right there as we said our vows—just as the sun disappeared

into the water. It’s an old sailor’s tale that you can see a green

flash as the sun sets into the sea. I don’t know if it

’s true or not,

but our guests swear they saw it. A

fter the ceremony, we had an

amazing dinner. And everyone had their own coconut to drink

from. After that, the local calypso band we hired really heated

up, and we all danced on the beach for hours.

To make your dream wedding become a reality, visit usvitourism.vi and download an application for a wedding license

from the Territorial Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands. You may also call 340-774-6680 for a wedding on St. Thomas or

St. John and 340-778-9750 for a wedding on St. Croix. After the Court receives a completed application, there is a

required eight-day waiting period. If either party is divorced, he or she must have a certified copy of the divorce decree

or a notarized affidavit stating when the divorce was granted. Additionally, please specify whether the marriage will

be performed by a judge in the Court or by a member of the clergy. The combined marriage application and license

fee is $100. If the marriage is to be performed by a judge, there is an additional $200 fee for the ceremony and an

appointment is required. Personal checks are not accepted.

If you’re inspired by beauty, then you’re going to be overwhelmed by our beaches. Pick a quiet dune, secluded cove or palm-laden shore. Altogether, you’ll find more than 87 beautiful beaches to choose from, including Magens Bay on St. Thomas and Trunk Bay on St. John, both consistently rated two of the top ten beaches in the world by Condé Nast. And Chenay Bay on St. Croix is one of the best-kept secrets of the Caribbean.
