8:00-8:15 Arrival O Students are expected to have three

sharpened pencils, two books, one eraser, and a full water bottle at the start of each day.

8:15-8:30 Morning Meet-ing

O Calendar and Calendar MathO Share circle, group activitiesO Announcement and messages about

8:30-9:10 Science or So-cial Studies

O Science – Reading based and supplemented with experiments and projects. GOAL: Life Cycles, Habitats, Weather, Type of Matter, Force and Motion

O Social Studies – American textbook and cur-riculum, project based learning, 6 Cs. GOAL: Understanding different types of communi-ties and cultures, developing the 6 Cs

9:10-10:00 SpecialsO PE and Korean: 3 times per weekO Art and Music: twice per weekO Drama: twice per week during terms

Notes: Spelling/Handwrit-ing

O Spelling lists are given once a week on Monday, tests are on Friday.

O Spelling lists are typically vocabulary words or 2nd grade sight words.

O Handwriting is taught during reading block and throughout the day.

Notes: HomeworkO Students are given a small amount

of reading and math homeworkO Homework should be done individu-

ally, nothing I give as homework is a new concept

O Goal of homework: increase stu-dent’s sense of responsibility, pre-pare them for grades 3 and 4

Notes: Tickets and Re-wards Coupons

O Students earn tickets for good be-havior and academic performance.

O Tickets can be taken away (see poster)

O Students use tickets to buy reward coupons.

Part II: Important Changes for Term 2

1) Swimming during PE class

O Students will have swimming on Tuesday mornings from 8:15 to 10:00.

O They should come to school on Tues-day wearing their swimsuits under-neath their clothes.

O If students needs to miss swimming you must tell the office in advanced.

2) Drama Class

O Students will have drama class start-ing at the end of October.

O Drama will be on Mondays and Wednesdays.

3) The Homework Log is now a book

O Please check the homework log and sign it daily

O You can also send me notes in the homework log

4) Portfolios

O The CDS First Program is changing to digital portfolios

O Those will be available next week on Tuesday

O Information on how to use the portfo-lio will be posted on my website
