Parent and Carer Meetings
We are looking forward to seeing you next
week. During the evening you will be asked
to complete a questionnaire to ask your views on a
number of aspects of school life. It is very similar to
the on-line Parent View that many of you complete
for us. Please take the time to fill in the questionnaire
and pop it into one of the boxes in the library or main
entrance. Thank you very much for you time. All
questionnaires returned by 3.00pm on Thursday 16th
October will be entered into a draw to win a box of
Hotel Chocolat Halloween chocolates.
At this week’s unannounced Environmental
Health inspection, our kitchen was awarded
the top score of 5 stars which shows that our
kitchen has the highest standards of
cleanliness and hygiene. The inspection is
extremely thorough and it is fantastic to know
that everything is as it should be.
Congratulations to our wonderful kitchen
team, led by Tracy Price: Carol Robinson,
Angelina Peaker, Fiona Butler and Jo Randall.
Achievements
Adriana Nunes who travelled to Greece last weekend

REMINDER—AGM on Tuesday 14th October at 7pm
DATE CHANGE
Maple’s class assembly will take place on
Friday 5th December and NOT on 28th
November. We are sorry for
any inconvenience caused by
this error in an earlier
newsletter.
Planned Industrial Action
You may have heard that some support staff unions
are taking industrial action on Tuesday 14th
October. Although we do not yet know if Longleaze
staff are affected, we do not presently anticipate
closing any classes. We will confirm this next
Monday morning.
Winter Weather Uniform
Please may we remind you that, although boots may
be worn to and from school and during playtimes,
school shoes must be worn indoors.
Please also remember to send in wellington boots and
waterproof clothes so that your child can take part in
all learning—whatever the weather!
Thank you.
Photographs
A reminder that individual and
family photographs will be taken
on Tuesday 11th November.
Your child/ren will be photographed unless
you let us know IN WRITING by Friday 7th
November. Pre-School and Secondary siblings
can come in for family photos at 8.30am.
Thank you to everyone for buying cakes at the
recent after school Macmillan cake sale run by
Naomi Stephenson. In total she raised £236.58
of which £68.25 was raised at Longleaze.
We are thrilled to share this message from Longleaze Pre-School. The Governors of
Longleaze School believe that this development can only benefit our community and
fully support it. The plans are on display in the school reception.
Good News!!!!
We are making plans (subject to planning permission), to extend our setting by
providing a new building for two year olds. Operating alongside our existing
classrooms we will be able to offer further sessions during term time from 9am – 3pm
for up to 20 children per session. We also hope to provide a range of other drop-in
sessions including Baby and Toddler, as well as to enhance our already popular Parental
Partnership afternoons and activities. Watch this space!!!
We are really excited about this project; come into Pre-School or School reception to
look at our plans.
For further information please don’t hesitate to contact us at:
longleazepreschool@outlook.com or admin@longleaze.wilts.sch.uk
Parking in School
Can we please ask parents/carers NOT to
park in the school car park. This is for staff
and visitors of the school and Children’s
Centre.
Thank You
Annual Safety Fortnight
Dear Parents and Carers,
As the nights draw in and the evenings become darker earlier, we will be holding our annual Safety
Fortnight. This begins on the first day back after the October holiday – Monday 3rd November. We have
many exciting activities planned including visits from the Fire Service, local police and NSPCC all of which
we will inform you of in more detail next week.
However, we wanted to give you as much notice as possible about our Wiltshire Air Ambulance Day
planned for Tuesday 4th November. As you know, the School Council have chosen to support vulnerable
adults in their fundraising this year. Wiltshire Air Ambulance needs to raise £6,850 a day to keep its
helicopter flying and keep saving lives. On 4th November they are coming into school to explain to all the
children about their valuable service. To support them we are asking the children to come into school
dressed as their super hero for a donation of £1. This could be a traditional super hero such as Batman,
Superman or Elsa or it could be someone that they admire such as their favourite sporting hero or
humanitarian.
Dress up as your hero on Tuesday 4th November for £1
I am aware that we are again asking for donations for a dress-up day – before we’ve even held our Red,
White and Blue Day tomorrow and that some parents find it difficult to provide costumes for children. The
children love to come into school out of uniform, which is why they keep voting to do this. It is also a great
fundraiser and has been very successful in the past.
I am hoping that the wide remit of ideas for dressing up for both of these days will mean that it is not too
difficult for children to find something to wear which fits in with the theme.
These days are also not compulsory. If anyone has any concerns about these days, please do not hesitate
to contact me and I will be happy to discuss.
Kind Regards
Mrs Ceri Seal
