An Unforgettable Incident
I was having a difficult time making up my
mind. I looked around me. No one was looking. I
decided to take the small parcel lying on the
ground. Suddenly, a man grabbed my arm. I
turned around and saw a man whose face was full
of pock marks. He was looking at me with eyes as
red as burning coals. He began to ask me why I
had picked up the parcel.
I answered in a tremulous voice. The man
snatched the parcel from my hands. I was about to
walk off when I was stopped by a police officer.
The police officer asked me if I had seen a parcel. I
replied, “A man whose face is full of pock marks
had taken it.” The police officer immediately asked
me where the man had gone. I pointed to him the
direction. He immediately ran towards the
direction.
I went home and told my parents about the
incident. Suddenly, the telephone rang. I
answered it and I was shocked that the police
asked me to go to the police station. He wanted
me to make an identification of the man I met at
the park that day.
When I reached the station, I was taken to a
room. After identifying the man, I was asked to
wait outside the room. Through a glass panel, I
could see a group of bomb experts examining the
box I picked up earlier. I was shocked to learn
from one of the police officers that the box was
actually a time-bomb. However, I was relieved to
learn that the bomb experts had managed to
disengage the bomb.
When I got home, I related the whole story to
my parents. We heaved a sigh of relief.
A Frightening Experienc3
It was around 10pm that night. I had spent
the whole day completing my project work at my
friend’s place. My friend had given me directions
to the MRT station earlier. However, I soon
realised that I had lost my way. Luckily, I spotted a
bus stop. I went to the bus stop to wait for the bus
to arrive.
I was frightened as I was alone. Suddenly, I
felt a strong gust of wind brushing against my face.
I waited for what seemed like a long time but the
bus did not arrive. The wind became stronger and
stronger. As I looked around, the trees seemed to
look like monsters! A sudden shiver ran down my
spine. Luck was on my side! I saw a car coming
my way. I waved my hands frantically at the
driver. As the car stopped near me, I could see a
man and a woman in it. I told them why I was
there and asked them if they could drive me home.
Feeling sorry for me, they agreed.
Soon, I was home. I thanked the couple for
their help. I was relieved that I had reached home
safely. My mother’s eyes were all red as tears
rolled down her cheeks. She hugged me and
asked me what had happened to me as I had come
home late. I told her the whole incident. From that
day onwards, I promised not to stay out too late.
A Hiking Trip
The sun shone its blazing rays on us. It was a
fine day. Jax and I decided to go hiking. We told
Jax’s father the location of our hiking area and told
him to pick us up at around 7 p.m.
Our new hiking area was close to a
magnificent and majestic waterfall and a dense
forest. The waterfall punctured the serenity of the
surrounding. We stopped for a while for lunch.
Then we continued our journey.
Little did we realise that it was getting dark.
After hiking for some time, I needed to ease myself
urgently. I went into the dense forest to relief
myself. I tried to trace my steps out of the forest.
I soon realised that I was lost. I could not find Jax.
I inched my way through the dense forest as the
sky darkened and the strong wind blew. I
quickened my pace as I tried to find my way out of
the forest.
After about two hours, I reached the deserted
road. I was yearning for the comforts of my home
when I saw a vehicle moving towards me. I waved
hysterically at the driver. The vehicle stopped
before me. The driver looked familiar to me. It
was Jax’s father! To my surprise, Jax was sitting on
the backseat! They explained to me that they had
tried looking for me but in vain. They decided to
drive by one more time before alerting the
authorities. I felt relieved that they had found me.
Jax’s father drove me home that night. I
decided that the incident should not deter my love
for hiking!
A Shoplift
It was a hot and sultry afternoon. James was
very thirsty after a tiring game of football. He
checked his wallet to find only ten cents. He was
angry to have spent his money on wrestling cards.
As he was walking towards the provision shop to
see what ten cents could buy, an idea struck him.
He tiptoed to the stands where the drinks were
kept while dodging the glances of curious people.
He quickly grabbed an orange drink and ran as fast
as his skinny legs could carry him.
“Help! Help! Somebody catch that thief!”
shouted the angry shopkeeper. Lucky for him, a
policeman was on patrol at that area. He quickly
gave chase upon listening to the helpless cries of
the shopkeeper.
Thinking that he was safe, James started to
drink the orange juice to quench his thirst as he sat
down by the pavement. The policeman saw him
and quietly approached James from behind. He
held James by the collar. James turned to look at
him. There was a surprised look on the
policeman’s face. He said, “I know you! You’re
James! You’re Mr Lim’s son.” As it turned out, the
policeman was James’ neighbour.
James explained to the policeman why he had
shoplifted the item. The policeman advised James
against doing such thing again. James went back
to the shopkeeper and promised to him, in front of
the policeman, that he would come back the next
to pay for the drink. James felt sorry.
A Shoplift
It was a bright and sunny day. David had just
finished playing soccer with his friends. He was
exhausted and thirsty. So, he decided to quench
his thirst by taking a bottle of Pepsi from his
father’s minimart at the void deck.
David’s father had always told him not to take
any items in the minimart without telling him.
However, David would never obey his father. He
made a quick dash into the minimart. A mixture of
fear and excitement gripped him. David stretched
out his hand and grabbed a bottle of Pepsi. Then,
he ran as fast his legs could carry him. The other
shoppers stared at him, some with their mouths
agape. To make matters worst, a policeman saw
him and began chasing him. Within seconds, the
policeman managed to close the gap between him
and David.
David felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned
and saw the policeman. David trembled like a leaf.
Fortunately, his father was nearby. He explained
to the policeman the situation. The policeman was
surprised. David apologised to both his father and
the policeman for causing such a
misunderstanding.
David was punished by his father. David
promised his father that he would not do such a
thing again.
A Crocodile Attack
Cheryl Sim, P6C
It was a beautiful Sunday. My family and I
were at the beach, relaxing ourselves. My brother
swam in the crystal clear water. My parents were
reading a book. I was using my notebook to chat
with some friends.
Suddenly, we heard someone letting out a
blood curdling scream! Then, we heard someone
shouting, “Run! Crocodile on the loose!”. My
parents quickly packed our things and shouted for
my brother to come out of the water immediately.
When we were approaching our car, we saw a
boy struggling with the crocodile. He was trying to
free himself as his leg was in the crocodile’s
mouth! Upon seeing this, two adults ran to save
him. They kicked the crocodile and used some
thick branches to hit it. My father quickly used his
handphone to call for the police and the
ambulance. They came within minutes. The
policemen used tranquilisers to sedate the
crocodile. They used some large nets to capture it.
In the mean time, the boy was sent to the hospital.
Although we were a little traumatised by the
incident, we were relieved that the crocodile was
captured. We quickly got into our car and drove
home.
