Electricity Infrastructure Electricity Infrastructure Development ProjectDevelopment Project

An Environmentally Friendly Project for the People of Rwanda by the

U.S.-Rwanda Energy Company

2

Objective Objective

• GoR Ministry of Energy Concession to design, construct and operate a 1500 barrel/day F-T G-T-L synthetic diesel refinery + 10.8 MW of excess power

• Product: 1200 barrel/day diesel• 300 barrel/day naphtha • Use of Methane gas as feedstock• Environmentally friendly fuel production

and electricity generation

3

Lake KivuLake Kivu

• Straddles borders of Rwanda & Republic of Congo

• Covers a surface area of 2400 km2 more or less equally distributed between Rwanda & Republic of Congo

• Estimated 59 billion cubic meters of methane gas, 29 billion can be economically recoverable

• Project allowed 150 mmcm/year of methane for sustainability – take as much out as is renewed

4

Lake Kivu

5

Current ExtractionCurrent Extraction

• Brewery – Extracting methane for over 20 years– Fuels factory

• Several small entities– Low quantity extractions

• Extraction units are in the planning stage from several countries to develop large power generation facilities

6

7

Methane – A Renewable Energy Source

• Fischer-Tropsch Gas-to-Liquid Technology

• Sustainable Fuel Resource- algae constant state of renewal

• Non-Polluting Gas & Energy Production

• Non-Polluting Diesel Fuel & Electricity

• Zero-Carbon Footprint (Carbon Credits)

• Refinery exothermic reaction provides energy to deliver 10.8 MW excess power

8

Environmentally Sound TechnologyEnvironmentally Sound Technology

• Rentech, Inc., Los Angeles, CA

– Global leader in industry– Experienced providers of Gas-to-

Liquid technology & equipment to convert methane gas to synthetic diesel fuel and other products

– Patented and proprietary improved Fischer-Tropsch Technology

– Automatic rejuvenation of catalyst
