C lass VII students present-ed a very entertaining andinformative skit recently

on the need to stop using plas-tic.

The skit "Say No to Plastic"was the brainchild of Physicsteacher Alok Ranjan. It narrateshow a mother and son go to akirana store, a tiffin centre andjuice stall and find the use ofplastic everywhere. At thispoint, a plastic man, played byKareem, enters and urges everyone to use more and more plas-tic which would help him thrive

in the world. People gather inthe market to find solutions toget rid of the plastic man. Whenone suggests that they burn allthe plastic, the plastic man de-clares that he would not die butinstead pollute the air thatwould eventually kill all. Whenanother suggests dumping it inground, the plastic man repliesthat he would pollute the soilwhich would make food graintoxic. If thrown in the gutters, the plastic man said he wouldwould block the sewerage caus-ing floods. Finally comes thesuggestion that the best way outwould be to stop using plasticthat would eventually see theend of plastic man.

Students from class III andIV of Jain Heritage aCambridge School, Kon-dapur visited the Birla

Planetarium recently. It was in-deed a flight through the universe. This dome-shaped planetariumwas developed with the techno-logical help from Japan. The placepresents its visitors with latestinformation about the universeand various invention and theo-ries related to it.

The students watched a 35-minute long "The Sky Show"which is the most attractive fea-ture of the Planetarium. As thelights dimmed and the journeythrough the vast universe began,

the excitement among the stu-dents was palpable. The skiescame alive on the massive dometheatre. The dome theatre is inthe form of a semi-circle whichdisplays the movie, explaining dif-ferent types of constellations, planets, galaxies, satel-lites, meteorites, asteroids and fac-

tual knowledge in astronomy. The students also watched a

3D movie about underwater crea-tures like whales, sea urchins, snakes, sting ray, their feeding habits and their dependency on each other.

The trip proved to be anenjoyable learning experiencefor the students.
