What’s Happening with Juniors Now…GH

The official record of your high school career.

Review transcript very carefully!

Colleges and many employers require an official transcript.

Partial Transcript – (6 semesters) Required for Admission Application Usually submitted to universities during the first semester of senior year.

Final Transcript – Required by the Institution the Student Will Be Attending Provides proof of graduation and final grades .

Final transcript requests are done in May.

Final transcripts ready early June.

AP Exams Exam score can earn college credit hours. Score of 3 or higher gives eligibility for earning college/university credit.

Check with your college/university regarding eligibility scores for AP exams.

Request that College Board send your AP scores.

Official GPA/Rank is released in late September, January & Senior Final -April

Policy For Final GPA & Rank The district will calculate class rank at the end of the 5th six weeks grading period of the

senior year. The average of the 4th & 5th six weeks will be used as the semester grade for GPA/Rank

purpose only. The calculation after the end of the 5th six weeks will be the final GPA/Rank for seniors. Seniors will need to continue with the 6th six weeks grades to complete the course

and receive a passing grade in order to earn the credit.

Honors & High Honors Graduates – Recognized at Graduation Based on the final GPA/ranking at 5th six weeks Honors Graduate – 3.5 to 3.99 High Honors – 4.0 and above

Tips For Being Accepted Follow instructions carefully.

Take the essay seriously.

Use all the space allotted when answering questions requiring more than one/two word answers. Too much white space is a red flag!

Humility has no place on a college application. Don’t be afraid to talk about yourself.

Other College Readiness Information

Students who do not score at college readiness standard on the SAT or ACT by the

end of their 11th grade year will be enrolled into college readiness courses during

their senior year. These courses will be embedded into their senior level English and

Math classes.

LISD uses SAT scores given to juniors in March through the SAT in the School Day

Initiative.

Letter of recommendation offers insight into your academic and personal potential as well as a predictor of your future success.

Ask someone who knows you well.

Someone who can speak about your academic ability and work ethic.

Give at least two weeks notice prior to deadline.

Can be from a teacher, principal, counselor, employer, adult acquaintance in the community.

Ask for the letter in person.

Letters are confidential and are infrequently given to the student. If returned to the student, the letter will be in a sealed envelope and is not to be opened.
