Think aboutcrafting and cultivating great UX

…in terms of Story

UX is understanding the story we’re trying to tell

…and inviting others to engage in the story with us

To craft your part of the story, you’ve got to know it beginning to end

…and be able to relate to/empathize with it

There are a lot of stories thatpeople are being invited to engage with

(i.e. Competition)

Even if you don’t have other direct competitors for your particular offering

…you are competing for customer’s time and attention

They won’t stick around or stay engaged if the story’s not good

So the Story has to be Great

Through-line

Takeaways(2-5)

Characters(Main, Supporting, Extras)

Plot

Storyboards

Scenes

One person, no matter how small, can make a difference

You’re never alone

There are friends you can count on

…and New friends you can count on

There is someone who believes in you

We’re all in this together

We’re all in this together

Help can come from the most unlikely places at the most unexpected times

Help can come from the most unlikely places at the most unexpected times

Good can still triumph over evil

Character Development

Great Characters are multidimensional

(multiple aspects that are introduced through the story)

Your Customer is a Main Character in the story

Core Featuresets are Main Characters

Announcements or Reminders are Supporting Characters

“Benchwarmer 2” that sits in the back (Extras)

All of this is for your audience

Not just your audience

They are the HERO

As you write the story, look for the best places to introduce them

Your Customer is the Hero

Your Customer is the Hero

(the engaged customer)

Through all of this the goal is to craft and cultivate aThreaded Experience

Iterate.

The  MVP.

All of us have experienced great UX

We might not know how to put the pieces together

…but you know when something feels like it all belongs and fits together, and when it doesn’t

We can all participate in crafting and cultivating good UX
