About theSession

What is Beer & Brainstorming?

Beer & Brainstorming is an opportunity for the Big Studio team to explore design thinking principles and use rapid brainstorming exercises to get to unique solutions.

Oh, we also sample delicious beers from around the world.

OverviewThe goal of this session is to understand the fundamentals of augmented reality (AR) and experiment with the latest AR apps on the market for inspiration. We also did quick brainstorming exercises using AR technology to solve different challenges.

• We listed specific challenges experienced by people in different locations.

• Before diving into concepts, we learned more about how other industries use AR technology to enhance their products.

• We split into teams to create our own AR apps.

• Each team pitched their ideas.

How can augmented reality help in these situations?

Result: This app uses a device's camera to overlay additional information onto the surrounding environment. Point the camera at people to have the app show each person’s social network activities and their openness to converse. Now you can quickly identify and approach friendly locals for recommendations.

Team B: AR app to encourage employees with rewards

Result: This app uses augmented reality to overlay elements such as personal rank, badges, rewards and virtual objects (e.g., a crown) onto employees. People can view top rankings and add virtual accessories to their colleagues. The idea is to have colleagues award each other with points to increase their rankings across different categories.
