Turning up, putting one’s head down, and working hard are commendable actions that may led to recognition and career progression in a workplace. In a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world, however, such an approach to career management is insufficient.

The reality for many of our clients is that they are nervously employed in a State economy characterised by an

unemployment rate well above 6%, a level not seen since 2001.

Our presenter, Barry Horne of Executive Career Coaching, will:

Indicate what he has learned from working with clients whose careers have been interrupted by a role

redundancy event;

Explain the inadequacies of either/or career management thinking;

Outline career perspectives likely to be more helpful during turbulent, VUCA times;

Stress the need for periodic client review of their levels of work satisfaction, performance, and engagement;

and

Offer ideas on how clients can better manage their careers, by applying contingency planning approaches.
