INTRODUCTION• A social networking service is an online service, platform, or

site that focuses on facilitating the building of social networks or social relations among people who, for example, share interests, activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections.

• Social Networking can be defined as a phenomenon that has

recently taken over the web, allowing more connectivity and interaction between web users. Several websites, such as Facebook and MySpace are labeled as "virtual communities."

Pros and Cons to the power of Social Networking

PROS1.Low costs: Its cheaper to use online social networking

for both personal and business use because most of it is usually free.

2.Builds credibility: You definitely gain the customers confidence if you can connect to them on both a personal and professional level.

3.Oppurtunitues to find job: If you keep an eye on adverts you have a probability of getting a good job.

Cons

1. Time Consuming: If this is not your kind of thing, that it would just be a waste of time for you. If you are not cashing the advantages then think twice before log in.

2. Lack of Anonymity: You are putting out information about name, location, age, gender and many other types of information that you may not want to let others know.

3. Scams and harassment: there is a potential for failure of security in both personal and business context.

The Addictiveness of Social Networking

• The youth are more worried about what is happening online.

• They are spending hours in front of a computer instead of building face-to-face friendships.

• Social networking has become a compulsive or automatic behaviour.

IMPACT OF SOCIAL NETWORKING ON SOCIAL ISSUES

CORRUPTION: • It is the biggest crime harming societal values

corruption and wrong practices in the society.• 'Join Anna Hazare's Fast To Bring the Jan Lokpal Bill’ is

one of such page created by a Mohammed ZaidShaikh, a Mumbai-based Facebook user. This page is followed/liked by more than 38,000 users which shows that mass were in favour of Anna movement and gave this revolution a strength and hit factor.

• The power of social networking can be seen in various protests done by many social activists through the crowds they gathered.

In 2011 feburary9, Michelle Obama says her daughters aren't on Facebook, and that's the way she likes it. Her daughter have certain restrictions that other children don't have because of Secret Service security issues.

House, Mrs. Obama says Facebook is "not something they need." May be when they get older, she added.
