Map of our boat trip
Thomas Telford 1757-1834Thomas Telford was born in 1757 near Eskdale. He was a Scottish Enginner who wanted to build majestic buildings
and bridges. He started learning how to be a enginner at the young age
of 14, he became one of the most influence and popular artist who built bridges in England and Wales.
At the end of his life, he was buried in Westminster Abbey after his death in 1834 in London. He is one of my favourite
enginners and bridge designers.
The Pontyscyille AqudectIn 1795 Thomas Telford began building the most
majestic, highest and biggest bridge in England. This bridge was to carry a canal over a metal, iron bridge
over the valley of the rapping River Dee. Telford began working on this bridge from 1795 until 1805, he completed in the year of 1805 and today
many people can walk or boat across it.
The Horseshoe FallsAfter Building the Pontyscyille Aqudect, Telford began desgining a new waterway for people to look at. This
would allow the River Dee to expand and not go up into the Welsh Hills. Today the waterfalls are view for many
people to look at them and to visit them daily.
