Vietnam to Cambodia Package Charter on Bassac Cruise

Tour Overview: The Bassac 1 is entirely built of wood, from the hull of an 80-foot-long rice barge. She can accommodate up to 12 passengers in six nicely decorated cabins, each with air-con and a private bathroom, and features a 100 square feet restaurant that opens all around, a large galley, a small office room and 700 square feet of sundeck. The Bassac 1 can take her passengers on cruises up to seven days without stopping, and offers a great flexibility in programming your journey. She also is so powerful and has such a shallow draft as to be able to cruise upstream the Mekong or bring you to your destination regardless of the season, the tide or the current. Tour itinerary: Day 1: Sai Gon – Cai Be – Tra On (L, D)

You are transferred from Sai Gon to Cai Be to board Bassac Cruise. You enjoy welcome drink, introduction to the ship and crew, check into the cabins. You depart towards Cho Lach on the Tien Giang River. Lunch is served on board while cruising on route. You have a rest on the deck.

Small boat takes you into Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes through the traffic of sand and rice barges, in scenery of fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards. You will visit of a village on the banks of river Mang Thit, an opportunity to appreciate the way of life and hospitality of the local inhabitants and the orchard or rice fields nearby.

You get back to the boat enjoying complimentary drink as a welcome back on board. You can go to open bar and rest on the deck enjoying the sunset. The crew will serve dinner while the Bassac is cruising Mang Thit River. The Bassac sets anchor just downstream from the little Tra On floating market, for the night.

Day 2: Tra On – Long Xuyen (B, L, D)

Breakfast is served from 06:30, while the ship is going to the Tra On floating market. The ship then departs towards Can Tho. You arrive in Cai Rang floating market and are transferred onto a local boat to visit the floating market, the nearby arroyos and gardens and return to the Ninh Kieu pier.

You arrive Ninh Kieu, Can Tho in late morning. You overnight on Bassac Cruise.

Lunch is served on board while cruising en route. Upon arrival at Thot Not, you are transferred on the longboat for a visit of a bamboo-knitting village near the Thot Not bird park, at the time the egrets return home from a day out. You get back to the boat before dusk; a welcome drink and the dinner are served on board. You have a rest on the deck before the night. The Bassac drops anchor upstream of Long Xuyen for the night. You overnight on Bassac Cruise

Day 3: Long Xuyen – Chau Doc (B, L, D)

Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM, as the Bassac is on its way upstream the river towards Chau Doc, you visit a floating fish farm on the way. Upon arrival in Chau Doc, you are transferred onto a local boat for the visit of a village of the Muslim Cham minority. Then we go upstream the Hau river. Lunch is on board while en cruising en route. The ship then follows the Tan Chau canal towards the First River. By mid-afternoon, the Bassac stops at the Vietnamese, then at the Cambodian border office at Kaom Somnor for the immigration procedure into Cambodia. You get back to boat in late afternoon. We are now in Cambodia. Dinner is served en route on the Mekong, heading towards Phnom Penh. The Bassac drops anchor for the night on the way. You overnight on Bassac Cruise.

Day 4: Chau Doc – Phnom Penh (B, L)

The Bassac sets sail at 6:30 towards Phnom Penh. Breakfast is served in restaurant while you are admiring the poetic landscapes outside. You arrive at Phnom Penh in early morning. The ship runs along the royal palace, and then enters the Tonle Sap to reach the port.

You check out and transfer to a local boat for the final dismemberment in Phnom Penh. Tour ends.
