BY KATHERINE GRAYSON STAFF WRITER Travel Beyond has launched a program that helps clients set up travel-dedicated family trust funds, a move that’s part of the agency’s broader push to grow via consulting services. The Wayzata-based company partnered with an attorney and UBS Financial Services Inc.’s Koch Cherne Wealth Management Group to launch the service, called “Travel Trust.” Clients work with the agency to set up a “Wanderlist”—a long-term itin- erary of trips clients want the trust to fund over the coming years. The fund can support a client’s own travel, in addition to trips taken by family members well after the trust owners pass away. Travel Beyond, which focuses primarily on international travel to destinations such as Africa and South America, decided to launch the program as part of a strategy to bolster its business by building long- term relationships with clients, said Jim Bendt, president of the agency. “With people being able to book trips online, things have become much more transactional. We wanted to position our company as more of a consultancy that would mirror other service organizations,” he said, citing financial advisers as an example. In addition to the trust, the agency will launch an incentive-travel program for small- and medium-sized businesses. Companies establish in- centive-travel programs as a way to reward staff members with vacations. There are many large travel agencies in the Twin Cities, such as Minnetonka- based Carlson Cos. Inc., that help big companies set up those programs. However, there aren’t many agencies focusing on small firms, Bendt said. “Minneapolisisthetopmarketinthe country in terms of incentive agencies.
