Some Dangerous Goods are too dangerous to be carried on passenger aircraft

Caribbean Airlines will screen Dangerous Cargo & reserve the right to open & check consignment presented for shipment

Procedure to Ship Dangerous goods

1. Contact Caribbean Airlines Cargo Customer Service Department & provide the following information:

• Date you plan to ship• Number of pieces / weight • Type of product• Destination

2. Fill out and submit two of the Shippers Declaration for Dangerous Goods.

3. Make sure that the articles and substances are not prohibited for air transport.

4. Dangerous goods need to be properly identified, classified, packed, marked, labeled and documented in accordance with Caribbean Airlines regulations.

5. Please contact your local testing facilities (e.g. in Trinidad it is Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI)) if you are not sure your item is a Dangerous Good.

1. Container for liquids NOT be entirely filled so that there is no leakage due to expansion of the substance from temperature or pressure changes.

2. Containers that can break or puncture easily, must be packed with adequate absorbent material in a strong outer packaging and suitably cushioned to prevent breakage.

3. Dangerous Goods must follow the proper marking and labeling process which includes:

• Hazard and handling labels

• The shipping name

• The United Nation’s number

• The Shipper’s & the Consignee’s name and address.

4. Avoid packing two or more Dangerous Goods in the same outer packing if there is a possibility that they will react with each other and cause any of the following :• Combustion or create considerable heat

• Flammable or poisonous gases

• The formation of corrosive substances

• The formation of unstable substances
