Morgantina Morgantina is an archaeological site in east central Sicily. The closest modern town is Aidone. The site consists of a two-kilometre long ridge running southwest-northeast, known as Serra Orlando, and a neighboring hill at the northeast called Cittadella. Morgantina was inhabited in several periods. Morgantina has been the subject of archaeological investigation since the early 20th century.

Villa Romana del Casale

The Villa Romana del Casale is a Roman villa built in the first quarter of the 4th century and located about 3 km outside the town of Piazza Armerina, Sicily. It contains the richest, largest and most complex collection of Roman mosaics in the world, and has been designated as one of 49 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy.

from Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, go to A19 exit Dittaino, go to direction Valguarnera, arrived on Piazza Armerina

from Airport Punta Raisi-Palermo and Trapani-Birgi, go to A19 Exit Enna, go to Pergusa direction, arrived on Piazza Armerina.

Valle dei Templi

“Valle dei templi” is an archaeological site located on a ridge outside the town of Agrigento (ancient Greek Akragas), Sicily. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture, and is one of the main attractions of Sicily as well as a national monument of Italy. The area was included in the UNESCO Heritage Site list. Much of the excavation and restoration of the temples was due to the efforts of archaeologist Domenico Lo Faso Pietrasanta, who was the Duke of Serradifalco. The archaeological park and landscape of the Valley of the Temples is the largest archaeological site in the world with 1,300 hectares.

Temple of Heracles

The Temple of Heracles or Temple of Hercules (the Roman name of the hero) is a greek temple in the ancient city of Akragas, located in the “Valle dei Templi” in Agrigento. The building, in the archaic Doric style, is found on the hill of the temples, on a rocky spur near the Villa Aurea.

How to get there?

From Palermo airport: take the SS 121 and the exit Agrigento / SS 189. After Aragona follow the signs to the center of Agrigento, or if you want to get straight to the Valley of the Temples, follow the signs to Caltanissetta, Canicattì and take the 640 (Caltanissetta- Porto Empedocle) towards Porto Empedocle. Once at the roundabout Juno, below the Temple of Juno, take the avenue until you get to the parking Sant'Anna or near the Temple of Juno.
