London in Winter
Visiting London in winter may not seem an obvious choice but there’s a special charm about London winters that prompts tourists to keep coming for more. Don’t let your London trip be spoiled, come rain or snow. There’s one thing that you can never be sure of in London and that’s weather.
So, be prepared for the cold snap as you don’t want the weather to put paid to your best laid plans. And to make sure that doesn’t happen, here are a few things to do in London during the frosty months.
Let’s face it! Rain is a part of “London experience”. A light drizzle on a fairly warm day feels like skies are falling in love. But rain in winter is like salt to injury. But don’t worry, even in the drizzles, London is ready to rain fun on you. Not to mention, you can’t enjoy alfresco lunch or a walk in the park, but there are a lot of fun things to do in London on a rainy day.
If It’s Raining
London Museums
If history is not your thing, why not enjoy some modern art pieces in the Tate Modern art gallery or National Gallery, , housing paintings from 13th century to 1900.
One museum that you just can’t afford to miss is British Museum. From Egyptian antiquities to Roman collections, the museum houses a huge assortment of artefacts telling human history from the very beginning.
Settle in a PubWhat better way to avoid the showers than settling down in a cosy London pub. No matter where you are in London, you’re never far from a pub to dash in out of the rain. To name a few favourites, The Hat & Tun in Farrington is a draper lil pub serving traditional British pub grub and exquisite ales on the tap.. Antelope in Tooting is another much loved pub, of course for its gastro pub food but for 3 open-fires options too

London Attractions
You can’t stand in the queue for London Eye because of showers, no point taking the hop on hop off tour unless you like sitting in downpour. If you want to take in views of the city, don’t worry. London Eye is not the only option. How about the brand new glass structure, Shard that offers even more impressive views of the city? If heights aren’t really your thing, there’re actually places that run beneath the city where you can literally avoid the rain. Enjoy a walk under the river with visiting Greenwich Tunnel that runs beneath Thames or visit the Chislehurst Caves, or even London Dungeon.
Theatre or CinemaForget about the rain outside and head into a London theatre to enjoy your favourite musical, concert, play, or comedy gig. Enjoy a superb ballet performance at Royal Opera House or Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre. If you don’t like theatre (chances are rare though), there is also a cinema at Science Museum which makes a perfect combination of movie and the museum on a wet day.
Shopping Undercover
London is never short of markets even if it’s raining outside. Consider visiting a large store where you can find everything. Head to Harrods which is a large department store, housing every brand you can imagine. Selfridge’s in Oxford Street or Westfield London are a few shopping malls every shopper falls in love with. Oxford Street is a covered market lined with high street fashion brands.
