Southeast Woodlands In the south of Florida the land is very swampy . They had moss trees and all different kinds of animals In the southeast woodlands. Like Herons that spear the fish with there beaks. There were lots of great big rocks around the southeast woodlands.

2The Everglades

Chickees The Seminole had houses called Chickees. The Chickees were made out of strong straight trunks from the palmetto palms found in the everglades. Because the weather was often hot and humid the sides had no walls. The roof was made of fronds or leaves. Floors of the Chickees were 2 feet above ground. This was to keep water & mud away. A Seminole village was surrounded by a log wall. The chiefs house was in the middle.

Clothing The Seminole wore all different kinds of clothing. The men wore mostly breech cloth besides that all they had on there body was piercings and tattoos Now they wear lose cotton tunics that went down to the men knees they used belts and sashes to hold it up. Women wore long skirts and shawls. The women were good at patch work.

4The Seminoles’ clothing

Food The Seminole had a easy time getting food. They fished and hunted and ate bull frogs. They hunted all kinds of animals like alligator and deer. They ate some birds. They also farmed and grew corn. With some of their corn the Seminole made corn meal.

The Seminoles prey

War The Seminole had run away slaves from the USA. They wanted them back from Seminole. General Andrew Jackson sent three thousand men to Florida to attack the Seminole. He ordered his troops to burn down the Indian village the war ended in 1819.
