Hello I´m the cousin of Lighthouse of Alexandria.I know a lot about my cousin.The Lighthouse of Alejandria was built in the III century b.C. in the Pharos island,it was 134 metres high

The destruction,construction and replica

The Lighthouse of Alejandria was severely damaged by earthquakes in 1303 and 1323.There is a replica in China(Changsha)Was built by Sostrato de Cnido by order of Ptolomeo II

The lighting

The lighthouse of Alejandria could illuminate 50km long ,by day the lighthouse used cristals for reflect the light of sun in the crystals and in the night used fire

The function

The lighthouse is used for mark the position of the city to ships sailing there but also is used for the battle.Is lit the arrows and is launch to ships

The structure

The building,erected on a square base platform,was octogonal in shape and was built with marble blocks assambled with molten lead. It had a ramp for rise the big objects.

Other dates

The alejandria lighthouse was one the bigger constructions of the ancient world.Along with the great bof Giza,the lighthouse survived the rest of the seven wonders of the ancient world.We think that is taller than this school.
