Why I want to visit SwitzerlandI have always wanted to visit Switzerland since I was younger and saw a photo of a small community nestled into the top of a mountain with a lake surrounding it. I enjoy seeing mountainous scenery and being out doors in the vast open landscape away from the normal hustle of the world and, Switzerland seems to offer all those benefits.

Facts about Interlaken Switzerland

Interlaken, Switzerland reported a population of 15,000 at the 1990 census. The town is located in-between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz which gave it the name Interlaken. The highest point in the town is 1,866 feet above sea level however, mountains around the town and lakes tower far above and, offer some of the most breath taking views in the world. The town manufactures textiles and watches. Tourism is its main source of income with far more tourists then inhabitants visiting the city every summer.

What kind of traveler am I?As a traveler I am extremely laid back. I enjoy going with the flow on my vacation and having a “loose” itinerary.This allows me to see anything I want and always alter my schedule to allow more time if need be. Flight PlansFor my flight to Switzerland I plan to depart Dubuque in the morning on American Connection flight to Chicago. From there I will travel American Airlines to London, England and then catch a flight to Switzerland on Air France (which is part of the One World Alliance with American Airlines). Total cost for the trip first class will be $8,308. Then opposite for the trip home. Total time one way will be 21 hours 19 minutes flight time.

Itinerary

Day oneMy first day will be full of Traveling to Switzerland. I will be tired when I Arrive in Switzerland but with the reclining seats on American Airlines first Class Cabin I will be able to adjust my sleep schedule for the new time zone is Switzerland. Upon arrival to Switzerland I will be picked up at the airport by Rafiki Hunting & Safari Tours. They will take me to there hunting lodge and feed me dinner for my First night.

On my Second Day I will wake up early to eat breakfast at the Hunting lodge and then head into the mountain to hunt for Ibex. The morning will be filled with hiking into the mountains We will eat packed lunches which the lodge will provide for me and my guide. If my hunt continues as planned I will shoot my Ibex later in the afternoon. The horns is the only part I plan to bring home with me. Dinner that night will be ibex meat we get from the animal. We will camp on the mountain before heading down the mountain on day 3.

My guide and I will wake up early on Day three eat Ibex for breakfast then hike back down the mountain and arrive back at the lodge hopefully before lunch. I will eat lunch at the lodge then pay them for my $4,000 day and a half hunting trip. I will then catch a taxi to my hotel, the Mattenhof resort. Which is said to be the finest resort in Interlaken. After checking into the Hotel I plan to walk around Interlaken for a little bit to check out local attractions and shops. I will eat dinner that night at the hotels restaurant.

Day three

I plan to wake up on day four and have breakfast at the hotel. After my quick breakfast Outdoor Interlaken Tours will pick me up for a private all day hot air balloon ride over the unique mountain landscape of Switzerland. A pack lunch will be provided by the tour company. I hope to see different scenery while on the full day tour and I have requested a guide who speaks English so I can ask him different questions and have him point out interesting land marks along the way. After my Balloon Tour I am going to have Interlaken Tours give me a ride to Krebs restaurant. Krebs's is a formal restaurant which has been family owned since 1875.

On day four I will eat Breakfast at the Hotel then depart for a morning Lake tour on Thun lake. I hope to see interesting sights and hopefully meet some new people on the tour. After my tour I am going to eat lunch at Schuh a small sandwich shop in Interlaken That after noon I plan to get a ride to the Interlaken Casino. After the Casino I will catch a ride back to the hotel so I can shower and then go to dinner at Laterne which is said to be a local attraction and a must for any traveler.

Day five

I plan to eat breakfast at the Hotel then Museum der jungfrau Region tours will pick me up for an all day tour of various museums through out the area. They said we will stop for lunch at some point in the day. After my tours I will get back to my hotel to get cleaned up and since it is my last night in Interlaken I am going to Bararella, a night bar with live bands and great drink specials.

On day seven I will need to wake up finish packing my final things and then catch the shuttle to the airport for my trip home.

The source was helpful learning about the climate and elevation in Interlaken. I wish it would have explained a little bit more about the weather.
