SPEC OPS SERVICE: A Channel for Uninhibited Personal and Corporate Growth

In today’s global market our clients’ reputation is as important to us as their safety and security. In order to safeguard

public image and limit exposure, each principle client is assigned an Agent in Charge (AIC). These AICs’ are selected

from the most experienced, knowledgeable and senior members of our protective security personnel. The AIC

oversees the protective detail, and will be with the principle throughout the execution of their daily itinerary. The

AIC ensures that meeting and travel deadlines are met, and advises the principal on security threats or necessary

modifications to an itinerary. Thru this interaction, the AIC becomes an integral asset for the clients’ success.

A vital asset to the Protective Security Team is our Security Advance Team. These personnel lay the groundwork

and set the stage for all meetings and events. The advance team is comprised of risk assessment and site survey

experts; knowledgeable of locales, customs and ultimately mitigating risks for the client.

The Protective Security Team forms the backbone of any protective security operation, and again these personnel

are drawn from the ranks of former Special Operations personnel. The Security Team is comprised of a Team Leader,

protective security personnel and security drivers. The Team Leader is responsible for the planning, intelligence

analysis and coordination with the AIC to ensure success. The Security Team is responsible for the overall security

of the principle, conducting vehicle or walking movements, providing site and venue security, and will act as principle

recovery and evacuation team if necessary. These individuals will not have assigned fixed positions as each is

expected to be able to perform in every position on the team.

To achieve success, all Spec Ops Service protective security team members are required to continually meet our

training and professional standards.

1. VARY YOUR PERSONAL ROUTINE Routine leads to predictability. Modifying your daily routine makes you a difficult target. ● Vary the way you travel to and from work and the places you frequent, such as restaurants, grocery stores and social gathering places. If someone appears to be following you, write down the license plate number and inform the authorities.

2. KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS When you are aware of what is happening around you, you can make choices to keep yourself safe. ● Know your environment, time of day and local crowd. If you know the "normal" surroundings then you can easily identify something that appears "abnormal" and avoid a potentially dangerous situation. ● When you return to your car after it has been parked for any period of time, look inside your car windows (front and back) before you climb in. ● Never open your home door for unknown persons. Do not accept solicitations from unexpected visitors. If someone identifies themselves as a police officer or other official, ask for identification. If their identity cannot be ascertained do not open your door. Call 911 to verify.

3. ALWAYS HAVE AN ESCAPE PLAN Whether you are at a grocery store, a movie theater or a sporting event it is important that you know where your escape routes are. ● Know where exits are located. ● Have a meeting place with the people you are with in case you get separated. ● Have a back-up plan and ensure everyone is aware of it.

4. SECURE YOUR OWN PERSONAL INFORMATION AND THAT OF YOUR FAMILY Never give out any more information than is absolutely necessary. Be discreet about your family and personal possessions. The less a kidnapper knows, the more he or she is deterred in their abduction attempts.

● Destroy (shred) any personal identifiable information such as bank information, family names and social security numbers. Dumpster-diving is an effective way to gather intelligence or information on any would-be victim. ● Many people label contacts in their cell phones like "Home" and "Hubby" with associated addresses. If you lose your phone or it gets stolen, this could give potential perpetrators your address and contact numbers for you and your loved ones as well as information about their relationship to you. All this information can be used against you.

5. ALWAYS HAVE A WAY TO CALL FOR HELP Many Americans no longer have a "land line" telephone at home and only have a cellular phone. ● Ensure you have a communication device easily accessible in the home, especially in the bedroom while you sleep. ● Be cautious on your phone while walking by yourself, especially at night, as you are more distracted and less likely to notice a stranger who may be approaching. However, keep a phone close and readily accessible in the event you become uncomfortable with your situation.

Should you find yourself in a bad situation, never give up! Use anything you may have for protection — pens, keys or bag. And trust your instincts.

HIGH RISK AREA KNOWN FOR KIDNAPPING:The following countries are listed as locations where kidnappings most frequently occur. Persons

traveling to these locations should consider kidnap and ransom insurance and the services of

a bodyguard or close protection team, as good business sense. That said, there have been

numerous recent cases in the USA and UK where plans to kidnap the children of high profile

persons have been uncovered. K&R is not a luxury service; it is increasingly being seen as a

sensible precaution.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (ERT)

CAPABILITIESThe equipment and procedures utilized by Spec Ops Service Emergency Response Team are the most

advanced in the field of personal recovery. The ERT capabilities are unique in that the team is comprised

of former US Special Forces operators (assault and sniper teams). These operators are trained and

experienced in areas that are not available with standard tactical teams, such as helicopter operations

(rapid insertion and extraction) and HALO (high altitude - low opening) / HAHO (high altitude - high opening)

operations from fixed wing aircraft. The ERT has the ability "to deploy within seven hours, with part or all

of its personnel and resources, to any location World Wide and the United States or its territories". The

unit possesses highly-regarded skills such as advanced tactics, night and low-light operations, the ability

to operate in a variety of environments (chemical, extreme cold, or rural environments), and maritime

operations.

MARITIME CAPABILITIESThe ERT possesses enhanced capabilities in maritime security, including advanced breaching capabilities

(the ability to circumvent locked doors aboard a ship), and ship-boarding operations. The ERT has vessels

that are outfitted for maritime assaults. Spec Ops Service also has a specialized maritime team with

additional capabilities including subsurface diving, closed-circuit diving (scuba gear that does not emit

bubbles), and combat swimming. All operators on the maritime team are military trained in closed-circuit

diving and combat swimming. In addition, the maritime assault element has the ability to pilot and operate

freighters.

AVIATION CAPABILITIESSpec Ops Service also operates a Tactical Aviation Unit. The Tactical Helicopter Unit, a sub-unit of the

Aviation Unit, contains a variety of helicopters specially modified for the ERT's use. These helicopters

include several military converted MH-6 Little Bird tactical transport helicopters, and several tactically

enhanced Bell 412 and Bell 214 helicopters. The fixed wing fleet consists of Gulf Stream 5, Pilatus PC-12 and

cargo transports.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (ERT)Set up a comprehensive Risk Assessment today. It is our Risk Assessment that lays the ground work to generate actionable

intelligence. From this introduction we can build out a comprehensive program that will provide peace of mind in knowing you, your

SPEC OPS SERVICE: A Channel for Uninhibited Personal and Corporate Growth

KIDNAPPING AND HOSTAGESURVIVAL GUIDELINES

The chances of your being kidnapped or taken hostage are small. If it does happen, your

chances of survival are high. Kidnapping is a terrifying experience, but you probably possess

more personal resources than you think to cope with the situation. Remember, you are of

value to those who are holding you only if you are alive, and they want to keep you that way.

Your best defense is passive cooperation. The more time passes, the better your chances

of being released alive.

Kidnapping can happen anywhere -- you can be taken off the street, from a car, from your

hotel room or residence. The best opportunity for escape is in the beginning, during the

confusion of the apprehension while you are still in a public place. If escape is impossible

or too risky, you should nevertheless try to cause as much commotion as safely possible to

draw attention to the situation. You need to make others aware that an abduction has taken

place so that the authorities are notified and the search can begin. Otherwise, it could be

hours or days before your absence is reported.

Once you have been forced into a vehicle, you may be blindfolded, beaten (to cause

unconsciousness), drugged, or forced to lie face down on the floor of the vehicle. In

some instances, hostages have been forced into trunks or specially built compartments

for transporting contraband. If drugs are administered, do not resist. Their purpose will be

ESCAPE. THE BEST OPPORTUNITY IS IN THE BEGINNING.The best opportunity for escape is in the beginning, during the confusion of the apprehension while you

commotion as safely possible to draw attention to the situation. You need to make others aware that an

SPEC OPS SERVICE: A Channel for Uninhibited Personal and Corporate Growth

to sedate you and make you more manageable. It is

probably better to be drugged than to be beaten

unconscious. If you are conscious, follow your captors’

instructions.

CONFINED AND TRANSPORTEDDo not struggle. Calm yourself mentally and concentrate

on surviving. Attempt to visualize the route being taken,

make a mental note of turns, street noise, smells, etc.

Try to keep track of the amount of time spent between

points. You will be asked questions about this after your

release in an effort to determine where you were held.

Once you have arrived at your destination, you may

be placed in a temporary holding area before being

moved again to a more permanent detention site.

IF YOU ARE INTERROGATED: ● Retain a sense of pride but act cooperative.

● Divulge only information that cannot be used against

you. Make every effort to avoid embarrassing the

U.S. and the host government.

● Do not antagonize your interrogator with

obstinate behavior.

● Concentrate on surviving. If you are to be used as

a bargaining tool or to obtain ransom, you will be

kept alive.

After reaching what you may presume to be your

permanent detention site (you may be moved several

more times), quickly settle into the situation.

● Be observant. Notice the details of the room, the

sounds of activity in the building and determine

the layout of the building by studying what is

visible to you. Listen for sounds through walls,

windows or out in the streets, and try to

distinguish between smells. Note the number,

names, physical description, accents, habits,

and rank structure of your captors. Try to

memorize this information so that you can

report it after your release.

● Know your captors. Memorize their schedule, look

for patterns of behavior to be used to your

advantage, and identify weaknesses or

vulnerabilities Use this information to assess

opportunities to escape.

● Expect to be accused of being an intelligence

agent and to be interrogated intensively. Do not

admit to any accusations. Keep your answers short

and don't volunteer information or make

unnecessary overtures.

● Try to establish a rapport with your captors.

Family is a universal subject. So are sports and

many hobbies. Your goal should be to get the

hostage takers to view you as a real person,

rather than simply an object. Listen actively to the

terrorists feelings and concerns, but never praise,

participate in, or debate their "cause." If you know

your captors' language, use it. Ask them to teach

you their language.

● Speak normally. Don't complain. Avoid being

belligerent and comply with all orders and

instructions. Once a level of rapport or communication

is achieved, try asking for items that will increase

your personal comfort. Don't be afraid to ask for

anything you need or want such as medicines,

books, or papers. Make requests in a reasonable,

low-key manner.

● Plan on a lengthy stay and devise a way to keep track

of the passage of time. If isolated, you can

approximate time by noting changes in temperature

between night and day, the frequency and intensity

of outside noises (traffic, birds), and by observing

the alertness of guards.

RESCUE ATTEMPT TIP # 001:

DO NOT RUN. DROP TO THE FLOOR AND REMAIN STILL.If an attempt is made to rescue you, keep a low profile and immediately follow all instructions. Rescue will

generally be attempted only after negotiations have failed. That means that lives of hostages, terrorists, and

rescue forces are all at risk during the rescue. You don't want to be shot in the confusion while the rescue

team identifies the terrorists, who may try to disguise themselves as hostages.

SPEC OPS SERVICE: A Channel for Uninhibited Personal and Corporate Growth

• Establish a daily schedule of mental as well as

physical exercise. If your movement is extremely

limited, use isometric and flexing exercises to

keep your muscles toned. To maintain your

strength, eat what you are given even if it does not

look appetizing and you don't feel hungry. Use

relaxation techniques to reduce stress.

• If you detect the presence of other hostages in the

same building, try to devise ways to communicate.

DURING INTERROGATION

Do not be uncooperative, antagonistic, or hostile

towards your captors. Captives who display this type of

behavior are often held longer or become the object of

torture or punishment. Take a simple, tenable position

and stick to it. Be polite and keep your temper. Give

short answers. Talk freely about nonessential matters,

but be guarded when conversations turn to matters

of substance. Don't be lulled by a friendly approach.

Remember, one terrorist may play "Good Guy" and

one "Bad Guy." This is the most common interrogation

technique.

STOCKHOLM SYNDROMEWatch for signs of "Stockholm Syndrome" which

occurs when the captive, due to the close proximity

and the constant pressures involved, begins to

relate to, and empathize with, the captors. In some

cases, this relationship has resulted in the hostage

becoming sympathetic to the point that he/she actively

participates in the activities of the group. Establish a

friendly rapport with your captors, but maintain your

personal dignity and do not compromise your integrity.

PRESENTING TERRORIST DEMANDSIf forced to present terrorist demands to authorities,

either in writing or on tape, state clearly that the

demands are from your captors. Avoid making a plea

on your own behalf.

PATIENCEBe patient, as hostage negotiations are often difficult

and time consuming. Remember, your chances of

survival increase with time. Most episodes of kidnapping

or hostage-taking end with no loss of life or physical

injury to the captive. Eventually you will probably be

released or rescued. Do not try to escape unless you

are certain of success. If you are able to escape, go

first to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to seek protection.

If you cannot reach either, go to a host government or

friendly government office.

RESCUE ATTEMPTIf an attempt is made to rescue you, keep a low profile

and immediately follow all instructions. Rescue will

generally be attempted only after negotiations have

failed. That means that lives of hostages, terrorists,

and rescue forces are all at risk during the rescue. You

don't want to be shot in the confusion while the rescue

team identifies the terrorists, who may try to disguise

themselves as hostages. To protect yourself, follow

these rules:

• DO NOT RUN. Drop to the floor and remain still.

If that is not possible, cross your arms on your

chest, bow your head, and stand still. Make no

sudden moves that a tense rescuer may

interpret as hostile. Wait for instructions and obey

all instructions you are given.

• Don't be upset if a rescuer isn't sure whether

you are a terrorist or hostage. Even if you are

handcuffed and searched, do not resist. Just wait

for the confusion to clear.

The peace of mind that this coverage brings is significant not only to the employee but also to the employer who knows that he has provided for the well being of his employees.

Kidnap and Ransom insurance , is a part of what is termed political risk or "crisis management

protections" The broad term can include any number of coverages from image protection for

high profile individuals accuses of some disreputable act to the actual coverage afforded to

corporate executives and their employees when a physical abduction and extortion results.

There are markets both in the U.S. and London. London is by far the more predominant writer,

however some U.S. corporations feel more comfortable in purchasing their protections from

a U.S. based carrier.

We are pleased to advise that we have a close working relationship with Harbor America

which, as a cover holder and correspondent at Lloyd's that has access to both of these

markets. London will traditionally underwrite larger limits and has the ability to underwrite

policies fronted by local jurisdictions where required. However it is preferable to write an

international policy with worldwide jurisdiction

Underwriting of this class is very involved and takes into consideration the countries to which

insureds travel, their durations of stay and physical protections employed for their safety.

Policies can be written for a specific individual or can be written on a blanket basis for all

employees. Obviously the higher the limit requested the greater the depth of underwriting

detail. Certain parts of the world are more exposed to this potential than others and rates

reflect those exposures.

Clients are required to assist underwriters in their exercise of due caution and may be

required to provide some physical protections in extremely dangerous areas.
