Georgia Aquarium

One of the Georgia Aquarium’s major goals is to be the leading facility

for aquatic animal conservation and research.

It employs more than 400 employees and has a dedicated core of more than 2,000 volunteers.

To date, Georgia Aquarium has attracted more than 11 million visitors.

Centennial Park Centennial Olympic Park is the largest downtown park in the country developed in the last 25 years. The Park sponsors community-wide free events, including the Fourth of July Celebration, Wednesday Wind Down concert series and Fourth Saturday Family Fun Days. The Park also hosts festivals, fundraisers and private events.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority operates the Georgia Dome, as well as the 21-acre Centennial Olympic Park and Georgia World Congress

Center. The three state-owned facilities are one of the largest combined sports, entertainment and convention center facilities in the world. The Georgia

Dome, opened in 1992 as the largest cable-supported domed stadium in the world, is located in downtown Atlanta.

The CNN Center opened in 1976 as the Omni International. The CNN Center is the world headquarters of CNN. The atrium escalator that is used to transport visitors on the CNN tour has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest freestanding (supported only at the ends) escalator in the world.

Cnn Center

Originally constructed for the 1996 Centennial Summer Olympics and, after the Games, became the home facility of the Atlanta Braves. Seating more than 50,000 cheering fans, Turner Field combines the nostalgia and the atmosphere of old-time baseball with a state-of-the-art environment. One of the most interactive parks in Major League Baseball featuring a state-of-the-art surround sound system with over 500 television monitors throughout the facility.

Opened in 1910 as The Broughton Tabernacle; Dr. Leonard Gaston Broughton was the pastor and a physician. Dr. Broughton started the Georgia Baptist Medical Center and nursing school, which began as the Tabernacle infirmary with three beds. The Third Baptist Church was an active congregation with over 4000 members. The congregation relocated during the mid-eighties and the building lay vacant until the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, when it was converted into a House of Blues club. After the Olympics, the building continued to operate as a music venue under a variety of different owners. The Tabernacle is currently operated by Live Nation.

Opting in 2009 to move from South Bend, Ind., the National Football Foundation will find a new home for the College

Football Hall of Fame in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The $66.5 million facility will top out at 94,256 square feet and

will feature approximately 30,000 square feet of exhibit space, as well as a 45-yard indoor football field that also

will serve as a unique, flexible programming and event space. The Hall is expected to open in the fall of 2014.

The center is to be built Downtown near the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium at Pemberton Place. The Center will serve as a forum for education and the exchange of ideas. It will provide jobs and internships and draw people to the Atlanta area. The center is expected to be finished and opened in May 2014.
