Introduction

Luisa De Roo leverages over two decades of experience in the field of interior architecture to manage her company, which is headquartered in Woodstock, Illinois. In her leisure time, Luisa De Roo enjoys traveling to places such as Wales and visiting architectural landmarks.

When visiting Wales, travelers may enjoy visiting the well-preserved Skenfrith Castle, which originated in the 1100s. After King Henry II obtained its ownership, he decided to have engineer Ralph Grosmont rebuild it in stone in 1187. Grosmont only added the eastern wall and perhaps the northeastern tower as well before Henry II ordered him to cease.

At the end of the 12th century, Sheriff William Braose had a palisade built around three sides of the ditch surrounding the castle, making it usable. In the next century, a heavy flood demolished the castle, part of which remains buried in gravel under the new castle built on top of the ruins left by the flood.

Visitors today can enjoy exploring this castle built for protection during the Norman conquest of South Wales. They may also appreciate the fact that numerous television crews have filmed shows at the castle, including Doctor Who, which set an entire episode at the castle.
