One of the key challenges in Responsible Tourism is attracting the right visitors, the ones who will fit in best, enjoy the place, return and recommend the place to others. The major challenge is to attract the people who will contribute to making the destination a better place to live in and a better place to visit, and of course to enable them to get from home to destination. Un dels principals reptes en el turisme responsable es atraure als visitants adequats, que gaudiran de l’estada, voldran tornar i recomenaran l’experiencia a coneguts i familiars. Aixi doncs, l’objectiu es captar als visitants que contribueixin a la millora del destí i sigui un millor lloc per visitar. Port of Barcelona transformation as a Cruise DestinationTwenty years of growth and transformation, changes in Barcelona and Catalunya since hosting the Olympics in 1992. How has tourism impacted on Barcelona and Catalunya? By Carles Domingo-Pages, Director General Creuers del Port de Barcelona.

12.00pm: The destination: achievements and challengesHeidi van de Watt, ICRT South Africa will open up debate on what responsible tourism means. This will be done through a panel discussion about the tourism management challenges facing Barcelona, Catalunya and the Mediterranean so that tourism contributes positively to sustainable development for local people and their environment. Dr. Jose Antonio Donaire, from University of Girona will reflect on the Mediterranean view, the perspective from Catalunya will be developed by Carlos Cabrera, consultant at Institut Cerda, and the view from Barcelona will be provided by Joana Homs, assistant director at Turisme de Barcelona, Barcelona’s tourist board. #RTD7

11.45h Barcelona del 1992 al 2012Vint anys de creixement i transformació, els canvis a Barcelona i Catalunya des que va ser seu dels Jocs Olimpics el 1992. Com ha afectat el turisme a Barcelona i Catalunya? La sessió sera presidida per Carles Domingo, Director General de Creuers del Port de Barcelona.

12.00h La destinació: Exits i Reptes Heidi van de Watt, de ICRT Sud-africa, obrira el debat sobre l’essencia del Turisme Responsable. L’objectiu d’aquesta sessió es basa en buscar vies de gestió turistica que puguin aportar un gra de sorra en el desenvolupament sostenible de les comunitats locals i el medi ambient a Barcelona, Catalunya i el Mediterrani. El Dr. Jose Antonio Donaire, de la Universitat de Girona aportara la seva visió des de la perspectiva del Mediterrani, aixi com Carlos Cabrera,Director General de l’ Institut Cerda es referira al territori de Catalunya i finalment Joana Homs, adjunta de direcció de Turisme de Barcelona ens parlara de Barcelona com a destinació.
